what is extra power, what is C/S???

ever seen a voltmeter. for $10 at walfart. end guessing
discover volts. put volts in you life.
the battery is 12.6vdc charged, is it ?(rested volts)
do you get 12vdc to the motor, active.?????
i bet not. ! i bet like 6v based on "extra power, statment" Hot wired is the correct word. hot wired. all motors can be tested hot wired.

and the point of voltage drop is BAD> (resistive)
its that easy.

at the low voltage of the motor, pins, backup on the wire
point by point and when it goes to 12v active , 1inch from here, is bad wire, connector or switch,.
its RESISTIVE> and bad.

this is called voltage drop testing, google that for zillion hits

Tip

Staying in hot water

With water rates on the rise, it is costly letting water run at a remote hot water faucet. It makes more sense than ever to insulate exposed hot water pipes in the basement with the foam insulation that's split lengthwise.

As an added benefit, freezing pipes can be avoided during power outages. The hot water pipes freeze sooner than the cold water ones because the freezing point of heated water is closer to 32*F than the freezing point of cold water. Cold water has a depressed freezing point due to dissolved minerals from municipal water treatments. Water that's been heated has fewer contaminants, hence less freezing point depression!

I have a Hot Point Gas Stove my burners all turn on but when I turn on oven nothing seems to happen

If you have a pilotless model it is very likely that your oven igniter is bad. This is fairly easy to replace. A contunuity check will show if the igniter is bad.

Ac will not work in extreme heat

That's a good one what is the point in an ac if it can't keep you cool. Have you checked to see if the refrigerant needs charging or if there is a leak in the system. If the ac works kinda sorta or only if it's not hot out, check the low side refrigerant pressure and if it has never had a recharge and it's a 1995 you figure that's 14 years. There is a good chance it's low on refrig. Good luck and believe me, I feel it here in Calif this year already. It's BAKING Hot.

Where to hook up com neg. lead to check dc volts on tv????

Most TVs today use a "hot-chassis" design and a switch-mode power supply. You should use an isolation transformer when doing any service work on a TV. This helps protect you and your test equipment, and can prevent accidental damage to the TV by grounding parts to the wrong point.

Hot-chassis sets use two different grounds. The power supplies have one ground reference for the primary side (hot ground) and a different point for the secondary (cold ground). The point you pick will depend on what part of the TV you're measuring.

If you are troubleshooting a dead set and working on the primary side of the power supply, use the negative lead of the large electrolytic capacitor you'll find near the AC input connection. There's almost always a bridge rectifier and filter cap (300 to 400 uF range, 180 to 250 volt rating, so physically pretty large) in that area to make the raw DC. That's a guaranteed good hot ground. Sometimes the set will have a labeled hot ground point right on the circuit board for you.

For measurements on the secondary (output) side of the supply, almost any shield can is ground. The tuner cover is a good choice.
