Try cleaning the flame sensor. Remove the top of the heater. The flame sensor is a black rubber boot close to the fuel nozzle. Pull is out of it's holder and use a soft cloth or cotton swab to reach into the openning and clean the eye. While you have the top off, watch out for the fan and turn the heater on and use a flashlight to look for fuel spraying from the fuel nozzle into the burn and make sure the igniter is working. I don't know which type you have but it may be the spark plug type or a hot surface igniter which should just glow red hot. Let me know what you find.

My reddy heater comes on and burns perfectly for up to 30 minutes then it shuts off and blows smoke for a couple of seconds before it completely shuts down.

This doesn't help. There at least 4 60k Reddy Heaters models -some are spark plug heaters, some have the new Hot Surface Ignitor technology. All heaters have specific model. Without you knowing the model I can't help, sorry.

When filled with kerosene then plugged in, the heater will kick on for about 3 seconds and the fan will run but it will not ignite, then it shuts off. reddy heater 55, 55000btu. runs on K1 or fuel oil.

Reddy Heater teasing me:)

sound like there is dirt and stuff in the fuel tank.when the heater fires up it pulls this stuff up into the filter.as it runs it plugs the filter off causing the heater to shut off.whe it shuts off the garbage falls back into the tank.when you refire the heater it pulls the garbage back up again.it never pulls it up the same so the time verys every time

My reddy heater smokes and then shuts right when you plug it in , If you take off the top cover it will work

Look at the fuel coming out at the spark pug, if its a spray and not a fog try replacing the nozzel, for the R 55 they are less than $20.00 from Reddy parts.com
