Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My WeatherKing A/C heat pump is 5 years old and friday I was told it shorted out and burnt my compressor. Because of government specks today, I was told that I would have to replace the outside unit and the inside unit also because a new unit was not compatible with the furnace inside. My home is 2300 sq. ft. What is my best buy for new equipment, and what kind, Lennox, Rheme, or Trane, or am I being conned?

Yes!! You are being conned.... that compressor can be changed without changing the whole outdoor unit or anything else....

Get another company to look at it and find one that will just change out your compressor... then there is no need to change both the indoor and the outdoor units...

I have a Speck Pump, model E71, only a year old. It suddenly stopped working - it was fine at the start of the season. The problem is that it just hums when turned on.

Since it hums it has power. I believe there is a start capacitor on it, that or the start switch may have failed.

Compressor short cycling

If the condenser fan works , try replacing the compressor relay and overload (it;s the most common problem) but if the compressor still goes on and off , probably is burnt or jammed and has to be replaced.

LG LHD30 the compressor does not cycle on

Compressor won’t Start
The Main reasons that this will happen
1 - A bad run capacitor (silver or metal capacitor)
It’s either shorted, grounded or open.
If it’s shorted a lot of times it will bulge out, (sometimes slightly)
2 - A bad start kit ( plastic capacitor and Relay connected to it )
The capacitor is either shorted or open
The relay either has an open coil between terminals #1 and #5
Or the relay is stuck.
Any time you change the capacitor or relay you should change
the other, especially if they are over a year old.
3 - A loose, burnt or disconnected wire
4 - Wired wrong
5 Compressor is open (windings burnt open)
6 Low on charge not getting enough cooling back to compressor, (Feel top of compressor to see if it’s hot it shouldn‘t be)
7 Some compressors have a black plastic overload under the compressor cap which could be bad.

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan won't kick on

be aware that not repairing this asap that you are causing yourself more problems First I would change out the fan capacitor and see if this could be the problem. Secondly if the capacitor isn,t the problem change out the motor . By continuing to allow the system to cycle like this the compressor will take a dive on you costing more . Good Luck

Compressor Problem WeatherKing 13AJA36A01

Your warranty on your WeatherKing is five years on the compressor. When you buy a compressor to go in your unit it is 1 year. Several resons for bad valves. Dirty evaporator coil, overcharged and bad evap fan motor. James

2 TON WEATHERKING HEAT PUMP VIBRATION AND NOISE.

Your friend is correct. Installing a sump or p-trap in the suction line will probably help. The oil may be leaving the compressor but can't get back.
