Question about EXPOBAR Brewtus Espresso Machine

1 Answer

I have a brewtus lll-V (9 months old). yesterday, it began emitting a constant sound of hissing steam from the top/rear of the machine, with occasional belches of an airy popping sound, that registered with jumps to the top gauge. my hunch is that the vacuum relief valve is stuck open, which used to happen occasionally on my old expobar office control model. in that case, i opened the top to the inner-works, removed the relief valve, took it apart and cleaned it. but i can't seem to get into the top of this machine so easily...the top two screws don't free the inner cover from the chasis, and i am reluctant to turn it over and start loosening screws or nuts from the bottom. (i am not confident either disconnecting the weight-sensitive mechanism that shuts off the machine when the water is too low, since clearly it is electrically connected within.) does my diagnosis sound right? and if do i safely access the vacuum relif valve? many thanks! joe henry

That sounds more like a safety valve issue than the vent valve, that is poping because of too much pressure, try lowering the pressure stat on the machine, or replacing it.

Hissing vent and steam coming out of back upper area of machine can I fix it myself

Hi... It sounds like something may/could have become disconnected. I wouldn't hesitate to take the back off... the problem should 'in this case' be obvious.

Coffee machine steam wand pressure issue

Good question. I have been surprised before today after checking the manual for various gadgets. There are thousands of manuals online which can be searched for if it is missing. We have a bench top water filter fitted. When you have one of those, the difference is so noticeable that you will only want drinking water from there

How can I increase the pressure for the steam wand?

If boiler pressure is set to about 1.2 bar on machine and you are getting no steam then check the nozzle on the steam wand, that might be blocked, before adjusting the pressure stat in the machine.

Water will not pump out of resevoir completely -- the water appears to be getting trapped. It starts to "steam" because the water gets trapped and has nowhere to go so the constant heat on the water forces...

Run half a caraffe of vinegar and half a craffe of water just as if it were coffee. You may have to do this up to 3 times. Then run a full caraffe of water to flush out the vinegar. Should be better after that. I would do this once a month as part of regular maintenance on the Cuisinart coffeemakers.

Krups FNC3 Espresso Machine

If it's only 18 months old surely it will still be under some sort of manufacturers guarantee, you don't bin 18 month old coffeemakers nor should you be paying to fix them. Put the problem back in their lap.

Constant humming/buzzing noise

I purchased a poloroid tv 3732 in may of 2005 from circuit city, after about 14 months the set began making a clacking sound and humming sound that gets so loud it is unbareable. I have to turn the set off. I have found out I am not the only one with this problem that has a poloroid tv. I had a technician at my home that told me there is a service warranty on these sets because the wrong part was used and the part needs to be replaced.
