ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
If you have a front loading machine,

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt.
Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm
pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the
idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go
to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots
or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably
only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade
of machine oil such as 3 in One oil.
Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

I recently replaced the rear drum bearing on this dryer, and once you find the part, the change is a snap. The dryer actually uses Whirlpool parts, and the rear bearing is just a plastic bushing that the shaft of the drum rides in. It is accessible behind a small cover on the rear of the machine. Pop the top off the machine (so you will be able to support the drum, to remove the old bushing), remove the five Robertson screws holding the rear cover and bushing in place, remove c-clip at end of shaft, remove old bushing. After applying some high quality lube (I used a molybdenum based product), reverse assemble, and enjoy the now quiet machine.

The part # is 35001012, made by Whirlpool (Maytag/Samsung), FSP on the bag.

GE 5 Cycle Automatic Heavy Duty Extra Large loud noise

All ge dryers have a center bearing on the back side of the drum and drum glides on the frontside. The glides make a scrubbing sound when bad and the drum is hard to turn. The rear bearing does a squeak thang when the plastic bearing wears thin and begins to make metal to metal contact between drum mount and rear bulkhead mount. It is an easy fix but the drum gotta come out. here is my pictorial page that shows how with videos and repair pix:

Washer makes loud grinding noise during agitation and does not agitate - it is a maytag atlantis.... fix or replace?

I suspect the thrust bearing kit is bad. This comes with great instructions and is easily replaced. I would recommend changing this before replacing the machine. You are not out much if it does not work, but I am confident you will get it going by replacing this! This is a VERY common problem with these washers and the new kit has been redesigned.

Makes a loud squeaking noise when drum is turning

The felt on the front of the drum is probably worn out or the bearing on the rear of the drum is getting bad.

I have a Maytag Atlantis gas dryer. It makes a squealing sound when it's on. The longer the dryer is on, the more intermittent the sound is. What could the problem be, belt or bearings?

All dryers have to have a way of allowing the tumbler (that's the thing you put the clothes in) to turn freely, not all of them are the same tho, some use bearings, some use slides, others use rollers. Over time these rollers will need to be oiled, the slides will get thin and start metal to metal contact causing a noise, The rear bearings will then start to make their way to china and cause the tumbler to rub into the heating element and OUCH! These things will cause the motor to prematurely DIE! Its best to examine the dryers, rollers, and slides when you first hear the noise, but who does?

Dryer noise

A drum support wheel bearing could need lubrication or be replaced.  Also some drum support wheels have a rubber coating that wears off causing misalignment and noise.  Possibly drum gasket (sometimes felt material) where drum meets rear panel is worn allowing metal-to-metal contact--should be replaced.
