Question about Bosch Water Heaters

Open Question

I have a PHCC ProTankless heater (model GWH425HN) which is not producing any hotwater. I tried restarting the unit by setting the on/off button to off for 5 minutes and turning off the water source to the unit. Still not igniting the safety pilot. Thank you!

SOURCE: pilot light going out on whirlpool hotwater heater-Fgif403t Flam

This is not a solution to that problem, but the dripping water is just condensation from the cold water in the tank. Like a coke can on a warm day. It goes away after everything warms up. It is more than likely a gas valve, but I have fooled mine into working by not turning the valve all the way up to the full on position.

sounds like you need to replace the thermal coupling. This component sends a signal to the gas valve that there is a pilot

SOURCE: noritz tankless water heater gives error code 11

This worked for me in the same situation. There is a filter inserted into main gas/ water control valve that senses water flow restriction. The sensor is connected to the gas valve. If it senses inadequate water flow it tells the gas valve to shut down so the water in the heater won't boil. Very expensive part. If you do find the filter clogged, a sediment water filter shoud be install on the inlet side of the water piping.

I have a tf325 bosch hotwater heater , problem is the flame will not stop when hotwater is turned off ?? Why and how to fix

After hot water has been drawn, the refill contents have to be heated to a set temperature in anticipation of the next demand. Otherwise, there would be a rush of cold or lukewarm water instead of hot.

My GWH 715 ES cannot restart after hot into cold water crossover

Check for obstruction in your watervalve. It has a flow meter, that needs to spin freely. Remove the watervalve and blow through it, you should hear it spin.
Also make sure you dont have an error code showing. Hold down your reset button for 5 seconds to reset an error code and get back to your set temp.

How do I get hotwater.. I did not receive owners manuel

Do you have the original packaging? Search on-line for the manufacturer. Sears sells these. If possible, visit a Sears store and get a website or help number from a package.
Then, make sure you have all parts assembled correctly. There is possibly circuit breaker or re-set button somewhere on the unit. Make sure the voltage matches your outlet.

On A.O. Smith water heater model BTH 199 100 where is the heat sensor rod located ?

Parts list:
http://www.hotwater.com/lit/partslists/197728-004.pdf
Flame rod, flame sensor sits next to igniter inside combustion chamber. This can be cleaned with sandpaper. Do not touch with fingers. Purpose of flame rod is to detect whether ignition has caused actual, sustainable fire inside the combustion chamber.
If sensor is bad, or no ignition is detected after 2-3 attempts, then 'no ignition' error is given.
Bad gas control valve, bad-or-dirty flame rod-sensor, low gas pressure, misaligned rod, dirty combustion parts, etc

Maybe I am not understanding your problem exactly, but if you have the instant hotwater system installed it should be measuring the temperature of the water in the hot water line and if it drops below the set level it should open the hot water side until the temperature is reached. If it was installed correctly it puts the hot water back into the cold water line so it isn't wasted.

E4 code on a bosch ghw 715 control unit

Before calling service technician, open following link for Bosch troubleshooting resources:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Bosch-Tankless-water-heater.html

Error codes are starting point for troubleshooting, and solutions vary by model and unit.
E4 is Backflow temperature sensor over 309 degrees F. Appliance will close burner and lock.
Check combustion air and backflow vent piping for blockage.
Check if secondary fan connections are disconnected.
Check venting specifications are met. Long vent lengths, venting with more than three elbows, blocked vent or combination venting may cause this failure.
Check sensor resistance
