Is this a brand new laptop? If it is I recommend taking it back for a replacement or contact the manufacturer warranty for defect.

If its an use laptop, the battery many be close to the end of usable state and need to be replace.

You can check the battery state under the power setting in your control pannel.
Most new battery model have a test light on the battery casing itself.
You cal try to recondition the battery first.

Charge the laptop to 100% and unplug it. Let the battery drain and let the laptop shutoff by itself. Write down how long it take for the laptop to shut itself off.
Leave the power unplung and try to turn on the laptop, it will turn on and shut right back out. Do this about 3 times. This will completely discharge the battery.
Now plugin the power cord and let it charge to 100% and repeat the above instruction 3-4 time. If it is working you should notice after the 2 time that the laptop take longer to shutoff.

If no change or it get worst, the battery need to be replace.

If it is giving only 45 minutes for normal using(excluding playing games) after a full charge then you must contact customer support and getthe replacement of the battery.

My son got a Sylvania Netbook for Christmas from his Grandma and because he didn't want his brother and sister messing with it so he put a password on it. So now that he forgot the password none of know...

You haven't mentioned what operating system is on it but you can try this --when you first start the computer start clicking the f8 button - hopefully this will give you a menu about starting windows normally and some other options- click on safe mode - when it starts booting and gives you the option to go into different accounts click on the Administrator account hopefully it hasn't had a password set if it lets you into a desk top then go to control panel and accounts and reset the password for your sons account and write it down --if this doesn't work then it is a very involved process to remove the password that i couldn't explain here so you might need to take it to a service technician .

I hope this helps

Pc connection problems

Sounds like you are setup to use Internet Connection Sharing. don't do this. Have each computer connect to the internet via the router. If the router is wireless connect all computers wirelessly to the router that are wireless capable and any computers that are not wireless capable, connect them to the router via a cat5 cable to the cat5 ports on the router. This will solve your problem. BPCS
