I have bougth a HD digital decoder. It is connected to my Viewpia television by a HDMI cable. I recive picture on all channels, but no sound. The model no. of the TV is: LC-32IEE4. I ask for help in what to do in order to receive both picture and sound. I have to identical digital recorders. The other is attached to a new TV I bougth 14 days ago. Both decoders works properly on the new TV. I have changed HDMI cables on the Viewpia TV, but i does not help. The TV is functioning properly with the original antenna (when I bypass the decoder)

The decoder is connected identically as my other decoder/TV (se my initial description). The antenna cable is connected to the only incomming connection for antenna. The decoder is connected to the TV by a HDMI cable. There is only one HDMI connection in both the decoder and TV.

Give me some more advice if you need more information

Your audio must be hooked up incorrectly. Take alook again at the back of your TV and the decoder. Does the decoder have more than one set of incoming connections? Does the television have more than one set. Please tell me exactly what you have hooked up to what (names of connection ports and color of the wires). Thank You.

I've been looking for manual download for your Viewpia so that I could see what connections are available on it, but have been unable to locate one. Do you have the manual? I also still need the name and model of your new TV, so that I can see what connections are available on it.

I am still unable to find any info online on your Viewpia. My suggestion is that you take the decoder and a clear picture of the back of your TV (which shows all possible connection areas) to an electronics store and obtain their advice on what cables you need to complete the connection. It would help to take a photo of the back of your other TV as well. Since both decoders are the same, you need to take only one of them in.
The best of luck to you.

Dell laptop connected to yamaha reciever via hdmi no picture or sound?

This has to do with your video driver on your laptop that needs updating.
go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update
download any updates from here.shutdown laptop, check the cable connection from laptop to tv then restart.
If still no luck try another hdmi cable

Hi, I am in Melbourne Australia. Can I receive gem hd channel thru my dmr-ez48v. I haven't tried but I do have a hd monitor screen that I can plug the unit into. Also what does the hdmi on the unit do....

HDMI means high definition multimedia interface.

When connected to an HDMI compatible unit, an uncompressed digital audio and video signal is transmitted, enabling you to enjoy high quality digital video and audio with just one cable. When connecting to an HDMIcompatible HDTV, the output can be switched to 1080p, 1080i or 720p HD video.

Panasonic uses Viera link option between their video products.

When connecting with a Panasonic TV (VIERA) or a receiver equipped with 'HDAVI Control' function, linked operations are possible. [Linked Operations with the TV (VIERA LinkTM HDAVI ControlTM)]

Please use HIGH SPEED HDMI cables that have the HDMI logo (as shown on the cover).
It is recommended that you use Panasonic's HDMI cable.
Recommended part number: RP-CDHG10 (1.0 m/3.3 ft.), RP-CDHG15 (1.5 m/4.9 ft.), RP-CDHG20
(2.0 m/6.6 ft.), RP-CDHG30 (3.0 m/9.8 ft.), RP-CDHG50 (5.0 m/16.4 ft.), etc.
Non-HDMI-compliant cables cannot be used.

(the above is from the owner's manual of this model - page 40 tells you about linked operation using HDMI HDAVI control and how to set it up)

As for Gem HD, this unit has an SD (standard definition) digital tuner - it will not decode/receive HD channels. I should point out that 7mate also is a HD channel but is not specified as such in any menu or even their website. (I found this out by accident when I tried to record on timer 7mate one day and all I got was 'unable to decode HD channel' banner at the bottom of a blank screen)

Channel 11 is a SD channel - so this will work with your DMR-EZ48 as will all the other relevant main free to air channels (ABC/7/9/10/SBS). GO! is also a SD channel.

To be able to record HD to this combo unit you will need a HD set top box connected via its AV inputs. HDMI simply means you will get HD video quality from the combo to the TV, you will not receive HD channels from your HDTV to your DMR-EZ48 unit via this method.

I HAVE A SUMSUNG THAT IS HD, BUT IT'S NOT HDMI,i GET REGULAR CHANNELS, BUT WHEN I SWITH TO A HD CHANNEL, IT IS ALL SCRAMBLED? WHY?

I assume you have cable. The cable HD and digital channels are usually sent in Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM). The cable companies are required to send local channels in the clear but not so for any others. Regular (basic) channels may be clear or scrambled. USA many not be but HBO will be.
So you have 1 of 2 problems: (1) your TV does not do QAM or (2) they have scrambled the channels you want to see. Questions: (1) Have tried direct Over-the-Air (OTA, ATSC) reception for your locals? (2) Can you see the HD local channels on cable? (3) Are you paying for an HD box from the cable company to have the channels decoded? If in doubt contact the cable company.
Current Samsung TVs do do QAM and OTA HD. Alternatives are Dish or Direct to get satellite with an HD receiver using HDMI or 5-cable RCA. Costs are comparable but OTA wins, hands down. -Ken

My picture is not good. I'm hooked up to digital

to get best picture and sound you need to use HDMI connection. This is normally if you have a HD cable box. If you don't have a HD box, use the coax connection directly from the cable line. On your TV, hit the menu button, use the arrow up/down to select manual channel search, select cable and hit enter. this will scan all the digital and analog channels.

I have an Olevia 23t lct hd tv. I am plugged in

you said you are using composite cables..? that means you have some kind of cable box ? if you want to get HD channels you have to use a HD box that is supplied by the cable company.. the HD cable box then has to connect to the tv with component cables (green, blue, red cables) or HDMI cable.. to send the HD signal to the television.

Sony bravia 40" hd lcd gets picture but no sound from cable box

You will have to go into the settings of the hd box by pressing the settings button twice and then scroll down to "audio digital out". chances are that it is set to Dolby Digital. If you right arrow over you can then set it to HDMI. this should bring your volume back. Hope this helps.

RCA D56W20 picture problems

More information is required to properly troubleshoot this problem. How is your television connected when you are watching HD? Do you have HDMI for this, do you have a satellite or digital cable box? For analogue are you using regular coax antenna (cable TV), or are you going through a cable or satellite box?
This could be related to the aspect ration setting. perhaps you ahve changed your aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 or some other setting. If you are connected via HDMI, then the digital signal may be "normalizing" your picture during HD, but reverting back to the other setting.

Check you video settings very carefully. HD televisions are very difficult to tweak properly.
