Hi Barry,

It sounds like the switch/sensor that tells the unit that the tray is in is not being triggered, or is toast. From your description of the problem, I am assuming that the tray ejects immediately after it closes, or very shortly thereafter. If the unit is still in warranty, take it in to an authorized service centre. If not, try this:

Open the unit and eject the carousel tray. You will have to look for it, but most units like this have a physical switch that the carousel tray touches when the drawer is closed. This switch is what tells the unit that the drawer is closed. If the switch doesn't get triggered, the unit won't play because it doesn't know the drawer is closed (thinks it's still open). The switch may have come off of its mounting position (happened on one of my cd players years ago) or it may be worn or it may have moved a bit and the drawer just doesn't trigger it any more. Anyhow, look around inside, open and close the drawer and look for it. It should be visible once the drawer is open.

Please let me know how you make out. If this isn't it, I may be able to help further.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Joe

What is the most likely cause of a "NO DISK" error with the Onkyo DX-C390 6-Disk changer? Would it be the laser pickup assembly?

Could be dirty laser lens, dying laser, faulty component,
Due to the complexity of multi-disk changers, it may be best to have the device looked at.
You can try running a cleaning disk through it first, but from your post, it sounds like this unit may have multiple problems and need tested by a physical person.

My Kodak Carousel 650H has a stuck slide and the tray won't move. The stuck slide is lined up with the "gate index." I tried releasing the tray but only one side of the tray releases. The...

Two steps.
1) Look down into the center of the carousel. There should be a round, flat silver knob with an elongated notch in it. Take a coin (US 5-cent piece or similar) and use it to turn the knob. This releases the catch on the metal plate under the projector. You should then be able to lift the carousel off. Be careful: some slides will fall out as the slot is not aligned with the carousel body properly once you do this.
2) Make sure the locking ring on top of the carousel is in place (or else take out all your slides. Turn the carousel over and gently rotate the metal plate covering the bottom of the carousel into position. You will hear/feel a "click" when it's in place.

The projector may have jammed because there are two slides stuck in the viewing slot--check for this before you put the carousel back on the projector. If it jams a lot the metal plate under the carousel may be bent.

I have a onkyo tx sr304 and a onkyo 6 disc player dx-c390.When my cd gets to disc 4 and 5 it shuts the receiver down.Whats up with this?

The only possibility that comes to mind is that it may be causing a short somehow when the carousel gets to that position, maybe a broken solder joint. Another possibility is that there may be a foreign object stuck inside the player such as another disc that lost it's position.

Error code 505?

"505" indicates a motor error, meaning that a motor in the carousel is unable to turn. There are two motors in the carousel: one moves the disk carrier and the other moves the eject arm.
you need to send to repair, is a non resetable error

Broken carouself? Can't properly open, close, rotate, etc.

Broken gears. The current replacement 5 disc is a CD/DVD player and sells for $129.00 at Sony or any other Sony retailer. The cost to have a service center even estimate the repair would be more than 50% of the replacement cost. Hope this helps

Onkyo 6 disc cd changer DX-380 has CD stuck under carousel

This has just happened to us. Often when the changer tries to select a CD on random play, it somehow knocks one CD off the carousel, usually on top of the other 5 CDs and then you can retrieve it easily. This time it knocked it down behind the carousel so the drawer could not close. We left the drawer open, carefully took the player out and tipped it upside down and then tipped it forward. We then closed the drawer while it was still upside down and then turned the player back up the right way. The loose CD fell onto the carousel and we could then open it and retrieve the CD. No damage to either CD or changer and we are now listening to music again!

M-Error is a mechanical error and could have a multitude of causes. just went through it with a TAD-5160 unit where it was a small slip gear moving a tin lever to ingage the transport sled to insert or eject the disk from and to the carusel. You may have to take the unit apart and asess the problem. Harleysp.
