Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Philips LCD TV Model 23PF5320/28. How can I connect a Blu Ray DVD player to it. I have an HDMI cord attached to the DVD player, but there is nowhere to plug the other end of the cord into the television. What do I need to do in order to be able to use HDMI? Thanks for your help.

The only way to connect via HDMI is to have an HDMI socket on your tv. You will have to use a standard video lead instead. It will still give exceptional picture quality it will use three wires instead of one.
The DVD player should have phono type sockets on the back or scart, to match the input sockets on your tv.
Hope that helps.

Philips quadrasurf TV

Analogue TV reception has nothing to do with signals from Blu-ray players.

Connect your Blu-ray player to either a HDMI port on the TV, or use a HDMI to DVI adapter (which is picture only) and supplement it with a a connection for audio via RCA/phono- or RCA/phono to jack cable from the BD player to the TV.

Press the AV Input button on the remote to cycle through the input sockets.

Change the video resolution format from HDMI set up menu. This way you can know that if Player and TV supports/displays any one or some of the resolutions and if you can get a video on TV.

We have a philips up-grader dvd player and get color distortion

I would try hooking something else up to your tv that is hdmi compatible. If your tv looks fine, then you know it would be the dvd player. If it's the dvd player, then I would suggest getting a different brand completely. I have had alot of bad experiences myself and other people as well when it comes to the philips brand

No connection/ no signal

Either the new BlueRay player is defective, the HDMI port on the player is defective, or the port on your set is defective.

Try connecting it with component RGB/AV cables, or S-Video/AV cables and see if everything works. If so, then you know that it is either the port on the BlueRay, or the port on the TV set.

To test the HDMI port on your TV, you will need another HDMI device to try.
