Question about Dynex 32 in. LCD Flat-Panel HDTV

1 Answer

The channels 03-30 or so are very grainy and don't have a very clear picture. It seems like the higher the channel the better the picture. The cable is high quality HD cable straight from the tv to the wall, no cable box.

If you are using the TV's tuner and an aerial, the aerial has a problem , (one of the reflectors/elements has come off or is bent) or the tuner unit has gone low gain at the lower frequencies.
Have a look outside at your aerial. Or there is a poor connection in the aerial system.
Hope that helps

What can I do to get a better picture and more TV channels?

where have you installed the aerial? Is it mounted inside/ outside? How high is it? Is there anything blocking the signal like buildings/ trees/ telephone or electrical masts? If you are not getting all channels then this would indicate aerial pointing in the wrong direction, grainy picture would indicate signal strength low due to obstruction!

New LG 32LD350 - Allowed TV to auto-program channels, and for some reason, it skipped past channel 4 during the tuning process. When I select channel 4 in the tuning options, it comes up as no signal. On...

When you are auto tuning the system will not store a channel which is week by its standard ( at least 60% signal strength ) This done to avoid grainy picture and hissy sound.
You can go into manual tuning and store it.

When i turn the TV to vid1 is has a crisp clear picture but when i turn hit the satellite button it goes to chanel 3 and is fuzzy (grainy looking). Any suggestions? I cant leave it on the vid1 channel...

Get a surround sound system. Run the video to av1, and then the red, and white audio cables to your surround sound aux. You will get the clean picture and great sound.

Channels 2-6 picture is bad, but all others are OK

If this TV is connected to cable TV and you are using a cable box then the cable system is at fault. If you are connected to cable TV with no cable box then look at the pictures on other TV's in your home if you have another TV. If they look fine and are small enough to move around. Move the TV and connect it to the cable outlet where this TV is connected and then examine those channels again. If they are grainy then a call to the cable company is due. They can use a signal checker to see what the signal levels are at that outlet for any given channel range.

New flat screen hdtv has a fuzzy picture

Yes you will get a better picture quality out of a cable box if you get an HD cable box.
The reason you are getting the diminished picture is due to the signal you are feeding the TV is an analog signal. The newer HD TV's are made for digital TV and this older technology shows all its flaws on this type of TV.

When you get the new box understand that the same channels you are getting plugged directly into the tv are still going to have some grainy look to them but the good thing is that a lot of them are starting to be rebroadcast on HD channels and that is where your new toy will truly shine.

Enjoy your new TV...

Good Luck...

Bad picture on some channels

Hi, Sounds like the splitter that allows the cable to go to other tvs might have a problem or there is an old filter somewhere that needs to be removed. Check the splitters and make sure they are the right type and you don't have one that says "in" and out to UHF of VHF but tv 1 tv 2 ect and that if it says anything about band like 800 or 900. If you need further help let me know what these splitters have printed on them. Good Luck!

Cannot get channel 2 clearly

Normally grainy pictures are a result of poor ground connections, although usually for more than one channel. Check the cable connections first. Otherwise all I can suggest is to have the tuner replaced.

Grainy picture

Greetings israelmaker,

In order to receive true high definition television, you will need a high definition cable box. Basic channels are going to look more grainy and not as clear overall even with an HD box, however you won't be able to view or decode the actual HD channels without a box.

In addtion, what type of cables are you using to hook up your existing box? This can have a substantial impact on the picture you see.

I hope some of this helps.

One channel fuzzy

Tis is an ongoing problem I seen increase alot over the past few months. From what I can gather, all the channels being broadcast over going from the analog to digital, there's no big suprise to anyone. However, the change from analog to digital is changing at a faster rate, so when you look at the TV some channels will be fine and others will have grey lines, fuzzy picture. The only solution-you need a TV with some kind of digital tuner. On the TV itself if the (TV has one) it will say "SD" or "ED" which stands for standard digital or enhanced digital.

Cable channels fuzz out

I think you have a bad connection in the tuner. The tuner is what decides what channel you get. It's a small box inside your tv about the size of a pack of cigarettes. These have been known to develop loose connections or just go bad. Some are pretty expensive depending on the type set you have. Since your set is older and you want it fixed you'd better get an estimae first. Stargazer
