That is normal. It does that because a temperature sensor controls the uProcessors temperature and tries to keep it less than 50 degrees C. When it gets less than that the fan switches off.
Hope that explains it for you.

They are most likely controlled by the heat so they will turn on and off to cool the laptop. Make sure using some computer air that the laptop is kept clean on the inside.
Thank you,
Lee

The laptop fan turning on and off is a normal condition. The fan turns on when the notebook heats up and needs to be cooled. Make sure the laptop is on a surface that it can get airflow thru the bottom of the laptop to help keep it cool.

So, don't worry about the fan coming on and turning off. This is normal. You did not say anything about having any problems with the laptop's functioning, so I assume that this is the case.

Hopefully, this information was helpful and answered your question.

Having a cooling fan cycling on and off is definitely not normal. The fan should run at a constant velocity in order to keep the CPU a a consistent temperature. It's most like a buggy BIOS in other a manufacture defect or a design flaw. This will lead to a shorter computer life and a shorter battery life. Plus it's very annoying.

Ceiling fan not working. How do I remove the fan to see if the vent is clogged?

Usually the cover pulls down, and is suspended on wires.
Push together the wires to release cover.
Use vacuum to clean.
Dissemble using screwdriver if possible. Some newer fans are one-piece and cannot be taken apart.
See if fan turns on.
Open wire cover and inspect wires.
Use non-contact tester to see if unit has power when switch is turned on.
See if switch is good.
If fan does not turn on, then wires are loose, switch is bad, fan motor is bad.
Some fan motors are sold separately, and some are not, and whole unit has to be removed from between the joists, and new fan installed.

You wont lose any contents of the external drive, but I would recommend to backup your laptop asap, which it looks like you were trying to do. Try to connect the external drive to another pc and see if it works, if it doesnt then you might need to purchase a new exteranl drive to backup you laptop. If it works then your laptop is having hardware/driver issues. Thats hard to say without testing it out. You might want to go to geeksquad but it will cost alot.

You have tried all possible solutions and troubleshooting.

My Suggestion is to check the Warranty of the Hard Disk and get it replaced. this possible shows a mismatch between the Laptop and hard drive.

Does the exhaunst fan turn on automatically when we cook or warm food items in our Samsung Microwave -- SMH 9187W?

Some interesting reading on page 8 of the owner's manual:

"Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite and spread if the vent fan is operating. To minimize automatic fan operation, use adequate sized cookware and use high heat on surface units only when necessary."

And on page 20:

"If the temperature becomes too hot around the microwave oven, the fan in the vent hood will automatically turn on at the LEVEL 2 setting to cool the oven. The fan will automatically turn off when the oven has cooled down sufficiently. This is an automated process and cannot be turned off. The fan may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. The Vent Fan will only operate in 1~4 levels modes while the microwave is working."

"Using the Vent delay off button
1. Press the Delay Off button once to turn the fan off after 1 minute.
2. Press the Delay Off button twice to turn the fan off after 3 minutes.
3. Press the Delay Off button three times to turn the fan off after 5 minutes.
4. Press the Delay Off button fiour times to turn the fan off after 10 minutes.
5. Press the Delay Off button five times to turn the fan off after 30 minutes."

If for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can still download it free here.

Mircowave works, exhaust door opens, fan stop working

From looking at the owner's manual, it looks like the vent fan is only supposed to come on when the internal temperature of the microwave gets too high OR when you press the VENT FAN pad. Here are a couple of fan-related excerpts from the owner's manual, which can be found here: http://products.geappliances.com/ProdContent/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SKUOBJECTS&DOCUMENT=Use%20and%20Care%20Manual&SKU=JVM1840BD (or the better URL here: http://tinyurl.com/yn7r6g) Automatic Fan An automatic fan feature protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on if it senses too much heat. If you have turned the fan on, you may find that you cannot turn it off. The fan will automatically turn off when the internal parts are cool. It may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. - Vent Fan The vent fan removes steam and other vapors from surface cooking. Press VENT FAN once for high fan speed, twice for medium fan speed, a third time for low faw speed, or a fourth time to turn the fan off. Press the VENT FAN BOOST pad for extra fan speed. - Hope this helps.
