First you need to make sure you have 240 volts to outside disconnect adn then at the contactor on the outdoor unit coming into unit..after you confirm is the contactor engaging when the call is made for it to come on..it requires 24 volts to engage the contactor and you should see wires coming to the side of the contactor ..you can manually push it with caution this is electric and it should come on if you have power there. if it is not coming on without assistance you have lost 24 volt power to th eoutdoor switch,,,,,some units do have reset button usually down low near the copper pipes on the unit...it usually is red or green in color...

My Rheem 13AJN36a01 outside unit will not come on...inside unit does come on..I changed both fuses and checked capacitor..

Are you sure your contactor is closing on call from thermostat. are you getting 240 volts out of the disconnect box. If contactor is closing are you getting voltage across the contactor. Did you check micro farads on the capacitor? Do you have a low pressure swtich on the suction line inside the outside you or do you have a red button on the outside of the front of the unit? This is a high pressure switch. That is all the possibilities of the unit not coming on.

check for a red reset button between the two lines that come in at the bottom. when the unit comes back on have it serviced for a plugged condenser coil.

Outside fan not turning on.

Reset buttons (if applicable) are usually located near the brass service valves.
There is a circuit breaker in your electrical panel that furnishes voltage to your outdoor unit. This is a seperate circuit from the indoor unit.
Outdoor units should have a service disconnect mounted within 10-15 feet. This service disconnect may have fuses or a circuit breaker in it.
Usually if a fuse opens, you will not be able to tell from a visual inspection. It is best to take the fuse to your local hardware store where they can test it and offer a replacement if needed.
I hope you find this to be very helpful moving forward.

Wondering why my compressor for my split system not running while my inside unit is

if outside fan is running and compressor is not you might have a defective compressor or off on safety do to dirty coil. on copper line there should be a reset button or you have to turn unit off and back on. if compressor comes on make sure to hose down coil with spray nozzle in shower position until water comes out clear. If fan and compressor are not coming on call a qualified tech. You could have bad fuses or contactor. changing those parts out can be very dangerous do to high voltage.

Goodman Air (outside unit)

was there any refrigerant loss? "bumping" that results in movng usualy causes a leak.If the system is totally empty, It shouldn't start.. If it did major oh nos! will appear. Does it not start all? and was it running when it got thumped? May have to call a tech out on it. Sorry.

Hi,
No there is no reset button "per se" but you can check the fuse box/disconnect to see if the fuse is blown.

check circuit breaker in house panel labeled a/c or outdoor unit
check box near outdoor unit for a breaker or fuses
some thermostats have a 5 min delay when switched to a/c
check for external reset buttons at outdoor unit some are red depending on brand
check that all wires are intact at outdoor unit------none cut or hanging and not hooked to anything?
