Question about Whirlpool GS460 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

When I turn the oven on it preheats for about 5 mins then starts beeping. The display says "F2". I unplug it for 5 mins and replug it in. Then I hit "oven" and "start" and it works. What does F2 mean and can I fix it myself? Thanks.

This is a shorted oven probe fault code. you will need to replace the oven temp sensor.

The part number should be 8273902 and it can cost about 76.00 dollars from a local parts store in your home town.

I hope this helps.

Happy New Year and thanks for choosing fixya.

F3 f4 gaas oven when preheated these numbers appear it beeps and shuts off

Hi, replace the oven temperature sensor if "F2," "F3" or "F4" is displayed. "F2" indicates the oven temperature is too hot and the oven temperature sensor is suspect. "F3" or "F4" indicates the oven temperature sensor or shorted or open.

After setting my oven to preheat (the oven ignites) around 5 mins. a beeping noise sounds and the oven displays F2. I can't find my owner's manual. Thank you for your help. Connie Acosta

This is likely the oven temperature sensor needs replacing (step 3) But if that checks good follow steps 1 and 2 .The videos will walk you thru performing the checks.

1. Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).
2. For SELF CLEAN models: check door lock operation.
3. Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

F10 error on kenmore elite electric built in model 790.4907

Try unplugging the unit from the wall, wait 5 minutes and replug back in. I had same thing happen to me a few months ago. I had to leave my stove/oven unplugged for 24 hours to finally get it to reset itself. It is working fine now.

F2:E0 is shorted keypad, and F2:E1 is no keypad connection, you need to replace the keypad.

You can find schematics and find replacements by entering model number here.

When we cook in the oven it says F2 every 10 mins.

This means that your oven temp sensor has failed. There is no way to fix the sensor. You have to replace. The f2 means that your oven has reached its heaeting limit and it shuts down for safety. Replace oven temp sensor and it wil fix it.
