Question about GE Washing Machines

1 Answer

One day old washer,WPGT9150HWW, keeps saying Er-4 and refuses to continue to rinse and spin the clothes. What is wrong with it? Also the water is running into the tub very very slowly! The hoses are not twisted and everything seems to be ok.

Ge washing machine fills up with water on spin cycle

Sounds like the timer is screwed... Sending out the wrong signals and the dryer is doing the rinse cycle when it should just be the spin cycle. Do t know what your timer looks like in that washer but most now days look like the picture. 11_11_2013_2_52_52_am.png

Spinning cycle

Keeping in mind that the soap & bleach gets dispensed into your wash on the second to last rinse cycle and that most all rinse cycles are in cold water. Is your cold water valve screen plugged causing your washer to rinse poorly? Are you using the HE detergent? If not maybe the washer is sudsing up to much and having a hard time rinsing all the suds and bleach out and leaving the clothes soapy.

Fill the washer up with no clothes in it on a cold/cold wash setting does it take a long time to fill the washer up? Also when it is full and agitating is there suds in the washer?

Last suggestion is if the drain is hose is a lot higher than the top of the washer it might have a hard time draining out all of the soap water before the next load

Rinse and Spin cycle stuck and not rinsing or spinning properly

Just read your posting. Now just a couple of questions. Are you using a warm fill for the wash or cold?if are using warm try cold only and take note of the time it takes to fill.I don't think your cold water is filling properly. My manual says that with only the 1st rinse light working it is your control module that is faulty. Please try a cold water wash and reply back so we can rectify this problem.

Cold fill washing machines

If your washer is the type that all rinses are in cold water only this would make sense that in the winter months when the water is at it's coldest the clothes will feel cold after the spin cycle.
If your washer has a warm rinse cycle and when you select the warm rinse option the clothes feel cold after the spin, then maybe the hot water supply line is plugged.I recommend disconnecting the hot water hose at the back of the washer and check the screen that is at the fill valve on the washer and make sure it isn't clogged with sediment or calcium build up or any other foreign material that would keep the hot water from entering the washer. If all is well there, suspect either the water temp selector switch or the hot water fill valve. Good luck !

Residue on clothes

For low water volume - or "Trickling" effect...

1. Turn off the water supply to both hoses.
2. Remove hoses (one at a time so you don't get them confused)
3. On the washer side - look for a removeable screen inside wher you just removed the hose.
4. Using a small screwdriver - pop out the screen and reverse-flush it/clean it. It will likely be full of sediment and calcium deposits from your pipes.
5. Replace the inlet screens.
6. Re-fit the hose to the machine.
7. Turn on water supply valves.
8. re-try.

How to work my washer?

the timer change by itself. You don't have to change anything.
But cold rinse only works if you have the cold water connect to the washer
