If there is an ON/OFF switch at the back of your 2.1 speakers, then switch it on. Or is the VOLUME control set at 0? Turn it up a bit.

Or, are the left & right speakers properly hooked to the subwoofer unit?
Please check.

Make sure the speakers are hooked up properly and also that the sound card drivers are installed, you can verify this by going into the device manager. The main speaker wire has to be hooked up to the output of the computer sound card.

If the sound card drivers are installed and the speakers are hooked up properly and your still not getting sound, try the speakers on another computer that you know has sound. If the speakers work then its a sound card driver issue on the original computer. If the speakers don't work on another computer then you know the speakers are bad.

My computer tells me that my speakers are not hooked up but i looked and made sure they were and there was still no sound coming out of my speakers. what do i do to fix it?

Look at the back of the speakers and see if there is a mains power cord coming out of them, if there is make sure that the cord is plugged in properly and the power turned on.

Check all the wires on the back of the speakers, make sure they are all plugged in.

Take the speaker plug out of the compute and plug it into another device. ( mp3 player or radio)

If they work in that device, there could be a problem with the sound card in the computer.

If they don't work in the other device the speakers might be broken...

I have a philips cd player model# FW-C70/37, that has power going to it but has no sound coming from any of the speakers, nor will the cd changer open.

cd players work without use of volume controls coax cables hook up's and then by setting reciever to proper button so sound can come out
you might have had a power surge that fried your system but lets look at easy stuff first
fuses
lines in properly and connected
test on an old sterio with speaker hook ups and test your speakers by plugging in to old beat box
make sure wires are not scorched
turn on receiver fm see if speakers work change channels to sterio and mono settings if speakers start to work on sterio or mono setting chances are power surge blew out your system
hope this worked
