While I am playing with my wii fit board it suddenly loses the connection with the consul. The blue light blinks and I have to reset the board. What is causing this?
My husband fixed my wii balance board, it's the sync button. The button on the switch is too long and if there's any lateral stress it resets. The switch toggles, not just up and down when you push the sync button. Hubby took the board apart, took out the sync switch, trimmed the button by 1/2 the length, it's now recessed and when there's lateral stress, no resetting or re-sync happens. It works perfectly and never loses connection no matter what i'm playing! You can still re-sync the board, but need to use a paperclip or pen to push on the botton
FYI all, I tried the solution above that pattifnp posted, and it worked perfectly. our WII fit kept losing sync with the board during marching and aerobics games, and it WAS the red sync button getting wiggled around. Affter i took the board apart and cut the switch down to nearly nothing, the board no longer drops connection dozens of times in the span of one marching game. I suspect if you are using the board on high pile carpet you may also be having the carpet push the sync button. In any case this worked great, thanks Patti!

First check the battery or replace it if you feel is running out of energy.
Try these steps!
I wish I had a solution, but I don't. Instead, I'm having the same problem. It happens most when we're doing one of the aerobic games, either stepping or boxing. Sometimes when I'm doing Free Step, it will happen two or three times in a half an hour. It's very aggravating.
We are not having issues with the Wii-motes, and we have done the whole resyncing routine twice. The batteries are new, and both my husband and I are well below the 'weight limit'. We do use it daily, though. I think we just have a faulty unit, but I haven't decided whether it's worth it to me to send it in and do without it until it's repaired.

1.
Insert a Wii Balance Board compatible game
disc in the Wii console.
2.
Use the Wii Remote to select the Disc Channel
from the Wii Menu, then select "Start" to begin the game. Press the A
Button to bypass the wrist strap screen.
3.
Open the small SD Card slot cover on the
front of the Wii console.
4.
Remove the Battery Cover on the bottom of the
Wii Balance Board.
5.
Press and release the SYNC button on the Wii
Balance Board. The blue light on the board will start blinking.
6.
Press and release the red SYNC button on the
Wii console while the blue light on the board is still blinking.
7. The blue light will stop blinking and stay on steady once the syncronization is complete

I have had the same problem - but only when at a friend's house - the main difference? the carpet is thicker. I am going to try adding the little "feet" things and see if that helps. I found if I put 2 thick layers of cardboard below the board it helps but always worry it will slip. Not sure if that is the problem, but is my thoughts at the moment.
My Wii board has lost the link to the console, just a flashing blue light or sometimes it just won't work at all. If i leave the batteries out overnight the blue flashing light comes back when the batteries are installed...but it is not a battery issue... my board still will not sync at all with the console after following your 5 steps. Any more ideas ?
I am having the same problem but it seems to get continually worse.
I've had Wii Fit and the balance board for 3-6 months now and it has recently developed an issue whereby it will lose the connection part way through longer exercises like 'Free step', 'Free run' and the boxing game. At first I thought the batteries were low but it happens even after installing fresh batteries so that's not the problem. The balance board and Wii console are pretty close when in use so it shouldn't be a wireless range / interference issue.
I plan to call Nintendo tech support shortly; I suspect they'll walk me through all the regular steps to sync the connections etc... And then ask me to send the board in for repair. I'll report back if I find anything useful to help address this issue.
This is really very frustrating when you face such kind of problems. You may check out Wii Fix Guideto fix the problem . This DIY guide will show step by steppictures to fix the problems yourself without any technical knowledge.
