Use the pull cord and disconnect the opener from the door. Operate the opener and let the carrier slide back away from the door. Is the carrier moving smoothly when disconnected? Next, lift the door by hand from the bottom to the top. Is it moving smoothly? If not, lubricate the axles of all the rollers on both sides of the door. Check the cable pulleys at the top sides of the door channel, lubricate them as well. Are all cables in all the pulleys, there are 4. After checking those things, there is a "up force" and "down force" adjustment on the opener, try increasing the "up force" by turning the adjustment in the direction of MORE force.

How do you stop the door leaving a foot open at the bottom?

To stop the door in a partially open position, the button on the wall switch or remote should be pulsed when the door is opening from the fully closed position.

Oven door will not close

Check the door latch. it may have bent or could be partially in the locked position and stopping the door. Also, there could be something that is at the bottom of the door that is preventing it from closing properly. If the door opens beyond the "level" open position, the hinges may be bent and will need to be replaced. A complete inspection will assist in diagnosis.

Refrigerator door swings wide

Refrigerator doors do open wide. They must have clearance for the crisper drawers. The unit should have a slight tilt to the rear to automatically close the door when partially opened.

My locked door won't open

I have a 2005 Xterra and the same thing started happening to me on an intermitent basis. The dealership eventually replaced the guts of the door release equipment under warrenty but that was after 3 trips to the dealership.
Now my rear hatch won't open. My theory is that after an total repaint (hail) in the summer of 2006 the body shop made something out of wack with these door mechanisms.

Microwave works with door open

If the top is open, the upper door switch should be open and the high voltage section should not be energized. That's the way it's *supposed* to work. But that buzzing is worrysome! Does the turntable turn during this condition? Does the inside light come on? How about the fan? If not, then I would doubt that it's cooking. If so, some models will do this. It's not uncommon to notice that the fan and light will try to come on for a split second when you shut the door. This would not indicate a problem. It has to do with the timing of the door switches and a replay on the board. If it's still under full warranty, it wouldn't hurt to call a GE-authorized servicer.
