Question about Asrock P4i65G Motherboard

1 Answer

I have complied a pc with a an ASROCK P4i65G Presscott 800DC with 2GB PC 32200 DDR 400CL RAM, actually its almost a year and a half I bought the Motherboard and ram and never got a chance to use it, sits in the chasse as it is, I have recently tried to make it functional but haven?t had any luck. I had doubts about the memory but I am not sure anymore, I have tried installing windows 7 with both Ram modules in place the windows stops at 20 % at some instances and I tried with one Ram module and it gets installs but when reboot part comes after installation then it cannot locate the HDD its very strange situation. Any suggestions any hints I would appreciate

Got an AsRock P4i65G mobo and bought 2 gig RAM for it. However, I have bought ECC memory by mistake instead of Non-ECC. PC wont boot with the new RAM. Is there any way I can get this to work such as with...

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?model=p4i65g

Your mainboard DOES NOT SUPPORT ECC RAM.
This ram type is ONLY intended for servers
or mainboards that are compatible for that ram type.

This is what your mainboard supports:

Dual Channel DDR memory technology
- 2 x DDR DIMM slots
- Supports DDR400/333/266 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 2GB

Use only the asrock site when upgrading the bios.
And a bios upgrade does not supports the ecc ram anyway.

Hope this will help you.

I have a mboard of ASROCK M266A but idont know If what type of RAM that im going to use for my DDR socket?

Hi,
Your motherboard support 2x DDR, DDR 266/200 non-ecc RAM. It can support up to 2GB of memory.
You might not be able to buy it brand new on this type of memory, as this model is deemed obsolete.
Hope this helps.

Consider updating your motherboard bios.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=K7VT2&o=BIOS

Also make sure that your memory is correct for this system:

- Max. capacity of system memory: 2GB DDR or 2GB SDRAM
- DDR x 2, DDR266/200 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- SDRAM x 2, PC133/100 non-ECC, un-buffered memory

If the CPU is dead the problems can be
  1. no power
  2. no fans etc or
  3. power, no beeps (errors)
If the Ram is not compatible it would be constant beeping.

With the board in, and power supply 20pin + 4pin Pent 4 power attached,(#2 and #7 of motherboard layout) remove power cord from power supply.
CLRCMOS0 allows you to clear the data in CMOS. The data in CMOS includes
system setup information such as system password, date, time, and system
setup parameters. To clear and reset the system parameters to default setup,
please turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power
supply. After waiting for 15 seconds, use a jumper cap to short 2 pins on
CLRCMOS0 for 5 seconds. Remove the jumper. Remove heatsink and fan from CPU. disconnect cpu and reseat it. Re-install heatsink and fan. Plug in the power cord. Try to boot up. If it still does not boot and (no power, no fans etc.) problem would then be cpu is fried.
