It sounds like when the foil is on, there is something causing the blade to 'lock up'. My guess is that the cutter bar between the foils may be damaged and can not move. This would lock everything up. You can check it easily. Take off the foil and turn it over. There is a plastic piece in the middle that transfers the motion of the cutter to the bar betewwn the foils. You sould be able to easily move it back and forth with your finger. If it doesnt move, you will need to replace it. You will find this item at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

If this part does not seem to be damaged, the motor brushes may be worn causing the shaver to not have enough power. Was your shaver running slowly or weakly prior to having this problem? If so, the drive unit will need replaced. You will also find this item at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

To install, you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap. on the bottom of the shaver that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs into to. You can use a small flat screwdriver or similar object to do this. Once it is removed, the side grips will pull away revealing 4 screws on the back. Remove screws to take off the back cover. The internal parts will then simply lift out. Reassemble in reverse order.

Hello MrandMrsInger! You can purchase a new replacement foil for your Braun 370 at the link I've provided below. Basically, you'll be getting a new cutter block and foil for it, as the foils are no longer provided separately.

Braun, now owned by Gillette, discovered that many folks would buy just the new screen (foil) and it would get torn/damaged by a nick in the cutter block blades, so they packaged these wear items as a set to eliminate those very common problems. I had it happen to mine several years ago, so I know why they made the change.
