Hi.

In case we are talking about an LCD TV, try to understand if the problem is related to connections and/or connected devices.

If prolem is not input-related, then you may have an inverter board that is starting to fail.

Also ensure that problem is not input source selection. This is done using the remote.

To check if problem is input-related.

Test the TV with only one of the two connected device. Test for one day or two (depending on how often the problem occurrs). Test for example with only Virgin box and HDMI connection.

If problem does not occurr, then replace cable and check devices connection settings. Test using different cables and change the way you connect the devices.

If the problem occurrs with different devices (stand alone) and cables, then the problem is the TV.

When an LCD has sound but no picture, and problem doesn't depend on input signal, that usually means that you have a defective inverter board inside the TV.
In that case the inverter must be tested and replaced.

I have a JVC RM-C60 TV. I'm trying to tune it in to my Virgin Media HD box using a standard SCART lead but having no joy. It's completely failing to find the cable channel (or any other for that matter)....

Tuning of the TV not required when using scart lead, just select external input that the scartis connected to, ie AV1,AV2 (EXT1,EXT2) etc. The problem is possibly to do with the Virgin box, it may be set to HDMI out in which case it will not output anything via the scart lead, you would need to connect via an HDMI lead (small socket on the rear of the unit looks a little like a USB socket). Problem is if your TV is a CRT television its unlikely to have this socket. Your Virgin box can be reset to output via the scart but you would need to contact Virgin for this process.

Hi there! I have a 19" Beko Tv about 4 years old. The sound has gone altogether. Picture good though. We have it attached to a freeview top box. Husband saying its the topbox that's faulty. ...

Hi,
I assume that you have attached it via SCART cable...since SCART plugs have 21 pins, and carry video, audio and switching signals ,sometimes a bad connection on either TV side or Top Box side ,the sound goes off first..Make sure your SCART plugs securely fit to either side.
If it does not help pls visit the URL below for further advise before going to blame the Top Box....

Tv connected via scart cables through dvd and virgin media box. Picture sometimes goes yellow the flickers then back to clear.Other times it can go red. Plays dvd's okay though. Is this a connection...

Hi there,
This will be a problem with either the Scart leads (9 times out of 10) or the virgin media box. Not a problem with the signal coming from Virgin Media. Try checking the scart leads are not loose, or looped through the wrong way.
Hope this helps

My Samsung TV picture is supplied via a HDMI lead

yes you need to connect audio out from the tv to audio in on the dvd surround. you need the red/white phono to phono leads, simply connect together and select audio (av,au) on the input selection.

I am so confused and so is the main computer in your TV.
HDMI adapters can cause all kinds of issues.
So the best advice is not to use them.

Problem with tv sender

Hi,i learned on another forum that if you connect an hdmi cable apparently it disables the functions of the scart sockets, especially where the remote control is concerned. This is something to do with virgin media's setup and not any equipment fault. If you want to go back to two room viewing try unplugging the hdmi lead.
