Dryer Takes too long

1 1/2 year old GE dryer takes 3 or more hours to dry. When I open the door it is hot inside, but water is dripping off of the door. We are ready to sell it and buy a different one.

Many people have purchased a new dryer because they perceived their dryer as getting weak or old only to discover the same problem with their new dryer and the real problem being a clogged vent.

LONG dry time is an indication of a clogged or restricted exhaust. Clogged or restricted exhaust is the primary cause of failure in all residential dryers. Blowing the the system with a shop vac is only a temporary solution. The system needs to be cleaned (1 to 3 times per year) with a rotary brush to scrape lint collecting from the sides of the pipe. Suggest going to a home improvement store or this website http://www.linteater.com and purchasing vent cleaning kit. Read instructions CAREFULLY. Also consider replacing flexible plastic or foil pipe with rigid metal type. Dryer will vent 30% to 40% better. If condition persists for too long, a high limit fuse mounted on the heater will open causing the heater to no longer operate.

Takes too long to dry clothes

You may have a clogged air vent, check that the air vent hose is not smashed, if it is not smashed, have your dryer vent cleaned professionally, all the way from where the dryer connects to the wall to where the vent leaves the home,
Recheck the dryer operation, dryer vents should be cleaned every other year for optimum performance

My kenmore elite dryer is only 1 year old and does not seem to get hot and takes long time to dry clothes

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.
Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.
Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
our dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

I have a GE dryer that won't dry our clothes. It heats up, but water is all over the inside door and the lint that comes out of the hose in the back is wet! The outside of the dryer (the top in...

It really sounds like your washing machine is not spinning the clothes out enough. Have they been wetter than usual lately? The dryer could just be struggling to keep up with the heavier / wetter load as there is no reason for it to create moisture on it's own.

When we open the dryer door, there is water (almost like condensation) all over the inside door wall...enough to drip out onto the floor.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

An ink pen accidentally got in with the clothes we were drying. So now ink stains spewed around the drier. Anything that can be done to clean the mess up?

Hello. I can help you. This is what I recommend - To remove ink stains from your clothes dryer, place 2 cups of bleach in a bucket, then fill the busket halfway with water. Take some old towels and soak up the liquid in the bucket. You don`t want the towels to be dripping wet, just damp. Place them directly into the dryer to remove the ink and run an entire cycle. Repeat if necessary. When you feel you have removed the ink sufficiently, place an old dry towel in the dryer to make sure that you removed all of the ink. Generally it takes about an hour to remove all of the ink.

My ge dryer takes 5hrs to dry a load of clothes, it seems hot enough inside when i open it but the clothes used to dry in 90mins or so now its hours

Have you checked your lint filter? Do you empty your lint filter after every load? If it is hot inside the dryer then the most likely suspect is a clogged exhaust vent. Check the lint filter, if it is clean pull the dryer out from the wall and disconnect the exhaust hose. You may have to clear out the exhaust hose...compressed air usually does the trick. After you have done this, put everything back together and your problem should be gone.
