Question about Video Game Consoles & Games
If that's the case there is a good possibility that your PS3's hard drive is developing bad sectors. You can take it out and test it on a PC given that you have a good hard drive test utility such as Tufftest and that you have a SATA capable system not to mention feeling comfortable performing the tasks. Also you can try to replace the hard drive with a new one, it uses standard 2.5 inch SATA laptop hard drive.
Here's a quick guide to replace an existing hard drive.

Your HARD DRIVE (aka: Hard Disk),
located on the left side of the unit, has crashed. You will need to
replace the HD.
When you replace your hard drive, you
will need to have the latest firmware on a
usb stick. Download the firmware from
the playstation official website onto a usb
stick. Once prompted by your system you
will need to insert the usb stick into the
PS3. Good luck..
You will need 2.5" Sata Hard Drive.
