1) put the laptop on a bed or a similar surface to close the air openings below
2) wait some time (15-30 min or 1hour) and let it get warm enough
3) restart.
it worked for mine. hope it works for you too.. the laptop seems stable and does not give any more beeps (for now).. good luck !

Hello,

If the computer is not turning on, there is a big chance of hardware failure and normally there is no easy fix for this rather than a motherboard replacement.

How do I remove a Compaq Presario 2200 forgotten drivelock password

If you forgot the password of the hard drive I'm afraid there is no way to access the drive any more. This password is used to encrypt the hard drive entirely, and without this key there is no way to decrypt the files or access the drive.

Power up the external monitor first and then boot up the laptop, the video info will automatically divert to the external monitor.
If you do not see a Windows image on the external monitor then it is definitely a motherboard issue, because the video card is built in on the motherboard.
The Video card uses shared RAM (part of the RAM module/s ), try re-seating the RAM modules, also test the RAM modules.
You can test the hard drive by removing the hard drive and connecting it to an USB hard drive adapter, then connect the adapter into a working computer's USB port. If the hard drive is OK, this computer will see it as an external storage device and you can open the various folders and files on the hard drive.

Compaq presario 2200 screen stay dark

sounds like the inverter has gone, the only way to test this is to remove the laptop lid, remove the bezel (front plastic cover) please take care not to crack or splitt the plastics, then get an electical tester and test the inverter coil to make sure a current runs through it, if it doesn't its the coil, if it does you need a new inverter, the coil is located under the plastic sheath

good luck

Hard drive failure compaq presario 2200

If the bios is showing no ide, means that your ide hard drive is not being detected.
This can be caused by some motherboard failure, some bad cable connection or caddie connection or bad hard drive.

Presario 2200 Notebook won't power up

try disconnect power then remove battery, plug power back in and try to boot.if nothing happens put battery back in and see if it charges.if it does leave to charge for a while, try to boot if it dont boot you know its neither the power or battery and shouldnt cost too much to repair(probably a capacitor dead , possibly transistor blown diodes only allow electricity to travel in one dirrection so only break if shock(drop or bang hard) resisters have about a 100yr life.

Presario 6350CA won't boot

I don't know that I'm going to be a great deal of help, but here is the link to the support site for you Presario:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=390426&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Here's a link to another page on the Compaq site that specifically talks about power supply problems:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph06788&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=390426&lang=en#N514

They discuss a flashing power led on this site, but I believe they are referring to an led on the power supply itself. Perhaps the led on the keyboard and the led on the power supply are both flashing...

Good luck. I hope this helps.
