Did you download all the required drivers,? Video, sound, hard drive and motherboard? You will require Service Pack3 for any support from Microsoft, updates etc, as basic XP is no longer supported.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads (if applicable) as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

HOW TO REINSTALL WINDOWS XP OR INSTALLING CLEAN COPY

How to reinstall Windows XP operating system or installing fresh copy of Windows XP on your computer.

If your Windows XP operating system had problem due to corrupted files, viruses problem or you want to upgrade your system. This procedure will guide you in reinstalling your current Windows XP or installing fresh copy.

After this installing process, you need all your hardware drivers like Chipset Intel driver, LAN driver, Sound driver, WAN driver, Webcam driver and others for the computer to be fully operational. Otherwise, do not proceed on reinstalling you operating system if your do not have those hardware drivers.

CDROM drive is required for installing Windows XP. If you don't have in your notebook computer, use external CDROM drive to connect in your computer using a USB cable.

1. To start with, you need to back up your in blank CD all your important files before you begin installation produre because all the data will be wipe out.

2. When ready, start your computer and when booting press F2 to
BIOS setting.

3. On BIOS menu, choose the BOOT setting and change the priority boot to CDROM, exit and save.

In some laptops, you can skip this BIOS setting process by repeatedly pressing F9 key or F10key when booting your computer and it will run boot priority on CD.

4. Once you exit from BIOS, you computer will reboot and a message will appear " Press any key to boot from CD", press any key to enter into WINDOWS XP SET UP.

5. Belows instruction messages will appear:

* To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER
* To repair Windows XP installation using recovery console, press R
* To quit set up without installing Windows XP, press F3

Press ENTER to initiate the installation.

6. You will go to Windows XP license agreement and press F8 to agree.

7. You will ask you if you want to REPAIR or REINSTALL the operating system. It will appear like this. Just press ESC to proceed.

A. To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.
B. To continue installing fresh copy of Windows XP without repairing, press ESC.

From repairing your operating system, it will not removed all your files and other software installed in your computer including your hardware drivers installed. Just fixing the operating system.

For reinstalling the operating system, you need to back up all you files because it will wipe out all you datas in your computer.

8. After that, it ask you where partition you want to install the operating system. The message will display like this :

C : Partition1 [NTFS]
D : Partition2 [NTFS]
Unpartitioned Space

Use the directional key to navigate and choose C: Partition1 if you want reinstalling Windows XP and press enter.

If you want clean copy of Windows XP, you need to delete both partition by pressing L and install clean copy at Unpartitioned space. By these procedure, you will have C: drive only. D: Drive is delete.

9. After choosing the desire partition. this will appear :

* Format the partition using NTFS files system
* Format the partition using the NFTS file

I suggest to choose the first line which is the quick format. The 2nd line take too much time to install the operating system. Press to initiate the installation and it will be finish and reboot automatically. PART OF WINDOWS INSTALLATION IS FINISHED.

If you had interrupted installation which is asking for certain driver file, your CD installer maybe damage which cause files to be unreadable. Try to replace the new Windows XP installer CD to proceed and until finished installing OS.

Windows xp is not starting

Windows XP is a fairly stable and secure operating system, but errors and other problems will occur from time to time. Unfortunately, some of these errors can damage or corrupt important system files and can lead to Windows XP not booting up correctly. You can repair your Windows XP installation using a process known as a "repair install," overwriting the damaged system files with new versions from your Windows XP installation disc. The repair install process takes approximately one hour, though a large portion of this time will not require any input from you.

1,Start your computer and place the Windows XP installation disc in the drive. If the computer is crashing upon attempting to boot, allow it to restart; otherwise, reboot the computer manually.
2.Press a key to boot from the Windows XP CD if prompted to do so when the computer attempts to boot again. If you are not prompted to boot from the CD, restart the computer again and press the indicated key on the initial BIOS screen to access the "Boot Order" or "Boot Sequence" menu. Select the CD or DVD drive containing the Windows XP installation CD, then press a key when prompted to boot from the disc.
3.Press the "Enter" key on the initial Windows XP welcome screen and press "Enter" again to begin setting up Windows XP. Do not press the key indicated to launch the "Recovery Console," as the Windows XP recovery console is not used to repair corrupted XP installations.
4.Accept the user agreement and wait while the setup program scans your hard drive.
5.Press the "R" key when the Windows XP setup program lists the installed version of XP that it detected to begin the repair installation. If you have more than one version of Windows XP installed, make sure that the proper version is listed before pressing "R."
6.Wait while the Windows XP setup program copies files to your hard drive and begins the installation process. The installation will take 45 minutes or longer, depending on the speed of your computer, during which time all of the Windows XP system files will be overwritten.
7.Confirm your user information as well as the date and time settings on your computer, and enter your Windows XP product key when prompted. Allow the operating system to connect to the Microsoft authentication servers to activate itself.
8.Reinstall any hardware drivers and XP Service Packs that you had previously installed, as your copy of Windows XP will have reverted to the basic installation you had when it was first installed.

I hope you find it very helpful.

I can not install the sound drive

Hi there !

If you successfully installed the sound driver in your computer to run your hardware device, I suggest you try to update your Windows XP through internet to be able to upgrade your operating system or download Windows SP3 upgrade installer to make updates through internet.

After that try to run on safe mode to correct or fix some error on faulty installation or too many drivers installed with the same drivers.

Good Luck.

I CAN'T INSTALL A WINDOWS XP SOFTWARE

Thank you for choosing Fixya.com

Yes you can install the Windows XP on P4X266.

Here could be five various steps you can go about.

  • Method 1: Perform a clean install of Windows XP
Use this method for a clean installation of Windows XP. A clean installation removes all data from your hard disk by repartitioning and reformatting your hard disk and reinstalling the operating system and programs to an empty (clean) hard disk.
  • Method 2: Upgrade to Windows XP
Use this method if you are upgrading to Windows XP from Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, or Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.
  • Method 3: Install Windows XP to a new hard disk
Use this method to install Windows XP to a new hard disk. This is typically done when a new hard disk is installed on your computer.
  • Method 4: Install Windows XP to a new folder (parallel installation)
Use this method to install Windows XP to a new folder (parallel installation) to either run two operating systems, or to access, repair, or retrieve data from a damaged disk.
  • Method 5: Perform a multiple boot operation
Use this method to install Windows XP as a separate operating system on your computer. This lets you install more than one operating system on your computer and select which operating system that you want to use every time that you start your computer.

How to remove windows vistra from a acer extensa 5220 and replace with windows xp

HAVE A VALID REGISTRATION KEY for WINDOWS — Microsoft will not let you upgrade your operating system with necessary patches until you VALIDATE your copy of Windows XP - by phone or online. If you try to update or format your system with a shared or borrowed copy of Windows XP, your result may be a crippled or non-working copy of Windows XP on your computer. You’ll need that 20 character number from your Windows Certificate of Authenticity. A certificate of Authenticity looks like the image below:
coa.jpg TO BEGIN:
1 ) Put the installation CD of XP or Windows 2000 into the CD drive and start the computer. Your computer should display “Press a key to start from CD”. You must boot from the CD because you’ll need to format the C: drive partition where Windows is installed on the hard drive.
If your computer is displaying a blue screen with white text, then you can proceed to step #2.
Your computer’s “Boot Order” tells the computer which device to check first when starting the computer. If your computer did not boot from the CD, you’ll need to power on your computer and press either the F2 or F10 or Del key — depending on your computer — to display your computer’s BIOS menu. In the Bios Menu, find the menu that allows you to change the “boot order” and make a change so that the computer will boot from the CD first, instead of the hard drive.
2 ) A blue screen with white text will be displayed. Press F8 to accept the Windows XP Licensing Agreement. The Windows XP Setup program will search for existing Windows installations and “repair or install fresh copy” will appear if a Windows installation currently exists on your machine. Press [Esc] (don’t repair).
3 ) A list of your computer’s disc partitions will be displayed. Press the UP or DOWN arrow keys to choose your main install partition. Note that your system partition must be a primary partition (usually the first partition that appears in the list), not a logical partition.
4 ) Once you have selected your main partition, press ENTER. “You already have a system installed” will be displayed if you already have Windows installed on this partition.
5 ) Press C to continue. From the options displayed, select “Format the partition using the NTFS file system” then press Enter. Windows XP can also run on FAT32, but the NTFS file system is recommended because it is more stable. You will receive a warning about formatting the drive unless the drive is brand-new -Press “F” to confirm you know that you will be formatting the drive. The disc formatting may take a while depending on the capacity of your hard drive.
6 ) The Windows XP install should begin automatically after the formatting is complete. If not, restart the computer with the Windows XP CD in the drive and follow the instructions for installing Windows XP. This can take 35 minutes or more depending on the speed of your computer.
7 ) Once Windows XP has been installed, connect the computer to the Internet, start the Internet Explorer browser, and visit http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate to download and install the latest security patches and updates for your operating system. This could take up to an hour depending on the age and version of your freshly installed copy of Windows XP. When I did this last week, there were 79 security patches for the version of Windows XP that I installed.
8 ) Install the sound, video, modem, and other drivers that are specific to your computer and your operating system — as mentioned in the very first step. Follow the instructions as provided by your computer manufacturer. You may be told to restart your computer between installing some drivers according to your manufacturer’s directions.
9 ) Restart your computer, then select “Start > Help and Support” Click any update links you see to install the latest patches and drivers from Microsoft and from your computer manufacturer.
That’s it. Good luck!

How to install XP in toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 laptop

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.
