This is caused by a bad/stuck open mixer valve. remove and replace the valve with a new one and that will fix your problem. the valve is the one where the two hoses go into the washer -- remove the back panel of the machine, the vavle is held in place by one small screw. take note what wires are going to the hot valve and what wires are going to the cold side. this will fix your problem.
you can buy a new mixer from your local Kenmore appliance repair shop.

My washing machine keeps overflowing whats wrong

Top load or front? If top loader, the pressure fill switch may be unplugged or broken. Hose leads from the switch to the tub. If the hose is disconnected or has a hole in it, or is plugged the washer will continue to fill with no shutoff.

Kenmore front loader washing machine very long wash cycle

You need to replace your cold water, inlet valve.

Unplug the machine from the power source. Disconnect cold water hose. remove the top cover of the machine. You will see the cold inlet valve/solenoide where the hose fits.

Take note of where the wiring goes. You can get the part from your appliance parts outlet.

Refit, and you should be right to go.

Good Luck.

The pressure switch is likely to blame. Change it.

Kenmore will not agitate

The timer is the most common problem. Call any appliance parts store and tell them the model number and ask for price for new timer. Also call sears appliance parts and get price. But a new timer and install it.

Washer won't stop filling

if you can turn the washer off while it is still filling. and the water continues to enter the machine you have a bad inlet valve.
Do me a favor turn the washer to fill, with the washer still running unplug from the wall. If the water is still entering the unit you have a bad inlet valve
