My labtop battery not charging - Acer eMachines 520-2890 Notebook

Remove the PC labtop battery then re insert it again.
If still not charging check the charger connector if its connected as well.
If there was no problem in the charger connector,Check the charger itself.
These all what you need to check only,no problem in your labtop.
If still not charging means one of these :
1- The BATTERY may needs to be changed .
or
2- The charger may needs to be changed.

then theres a chance the battery is shot. this happens alot with labtops it seems and the only way to fix this would be to purchase a new battery. what happens is not all computers run on just AC power and when fully charged still use the battery. when the computer is plugged in all the time its constantly useing and charging the battery at the same time and this causes the battery to drain entirely and become useless, here is a link to get a new battery. i sugest looking around online to find better pricing but heres a start. hope this helps :)

Could be that you have a bad battery that needs to be replaced. They can handle only so many charges then you would have to buy a new one.

If the battery is not charging, it is possible that the battery is already bad or the ac port is loose. If it is alreay loose, you need to resolder this from the motherboard.

If the battery is in correctly, and the mains adapter is not faulty, and the charging power in socket is not damaged, Your battery is probably dead

If the unit is running fine with A/C power then your A/C power is fine.

If the unit cannot run when both the battery and the A/C are connected then the battery needs to be replaced.

I had two units 2 months ago with this issue. They dont go on at all when their battery is connected along with the A/C - as the battery is faulty. When I replaced the battery everything was well again.

either the power block or battery is faulty. remove battery and see if it will run directly off the power block, if not, you need a new power block.

how old is the laptop/battery? rechargable batteries sometime with age; I'm told, over time lose their ability to hold a charge. As far as model number number, usually at the bottom side on the sticker you can find all information you need.

When you install a new battery and remove a battery always make sure the laptop is completely shut off and have the power cord removed so that you avoid any possible power surge.

Batteries generally don't last much longer than a year and I have found removing the power cord or battery when it is off to be a good practice.

Before you charge a battery make sure it is run most all the way down. Recharging a battery when it is not run down can give it a memory and you may only be able to charge it up to the point you started charging it.

Anyway, if the computer won't charge a new battery then you could have a bad motherboard. To be sure try another battery.
