Try a new ink cartrige set. If there is still a fault, then there is a hardware failure in the unit.

You can try calling the HP tech support. I think for their first answer, they will tell you the same as what I am suggesting.

Canon MP340 won't scan

The printer "black ink low" message has nothing to do with scanning. You don't have to disable the ink monitoring or do anything else with printer - to scan!
The printer is" waiting" for you to CLOSE a "Paper port 11" dialog box on your PC screen. If the dialog box is not open, check the task bar (bottom of screen) for anything with "MX340" in title, click on it then close it.

good luck

Hi

Check if the alignment page has been printed correctly i mean the bars printed with a little yellow color around it right?

Okay what you can do is do a reset first. Follow the below things

1. When the printer is on remove the power directly from the back of the printer.
2. hold # and 9 key and connect the power
3. Printer will show you on the screen it is resetting the NVRAM then release the buttons

The printer will print alignment page again this time try to scan and it should work.

When i press scan the green power button just flashes and nothing happens.

Iam gicing two solutions- depends on your flexibility you can scan.

Solution 1:
Please try this procedure instead of press scan.

Download picasa 3.8 from http://picasa.google.com/
  1. Make sure everything is connected and turned on!
  2. Put the photo on the glass of the scanner - face down
  3. In Picasa, click 'Import'
  4. Click the arrow for the drop down list of devices. You should see your scanner listed ... select it
  5. Now you will see a screen that depends on your scanner. There should be an option to 'Preview'. Click that.
  6. You should now see your picture, there may be some settings you want to change here, but if it looks OK then
  7. Click the button to Scan
  8. When it's done scanning, you're back at the standard Picasa Import screen. Click Import all.
  9. Select a folder to put it in. I made a folder called 'Old Photos' for the first one, then, for each subsequent scanned photo, I selected that existing folder from the drop-down list.
Solution 2:

please download HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers from the below link

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3571753#N193

select your operating system then download full feature software and drivers and install .
then It will work when you press scan.

Even if it is not working there may be some hardware button problem...may be...

  3. click on files from the menu bar of the opened program.
  4. click on "from scanner or camera". This will locate your installed scanner.
  5. select your scanner from the list if it gives you options else you will see the scanning interface open.
  6. click on preview on the lower right part of the open window. this will display the preview of the picture you have placed in the scanner's bed.
  7. Use your mouse to adjust the screen to the portion you wish to scan.
  8. click on scan and wait. the scanner will scan you picture and send it to the paint program you opened.
