Question about Pride Celebrity X 4-Wheel Electric Scooter

1 Answer

I have a 150KG hoist fitted to my 4X4, what is the best way to lift my Celebrity X 4 Wheel scooter as there appears to be no lifting lugs. Do I buy straps, or are there other methods.using straps? I live alone and have no one to assist in dismantling the scooter, even so the parts would be too heavy for me to lift. thanks for any help. BJ. Hopkins

I would definitely recommend buying some proper straps as this is by far the safest way to raise the scooter. Make sure you get at least 2 straps so that you can position one towards the front and one towards the rear of the scooter to make sure you have an even load. If I were you, I would lay the straps down onto the floor and extend them out. Make sure the spacing is right for the straps. Then drive the scooter over the straps so it is much easier for you to be able to the wrap the straps around the scooter. Make sure you don't trap any delicate items in the straps, for example mirrors and levers. I don't know if you have thought about it but would there be a possibility of getting a tail lift for your vehicle? That would make it so much easier as all you would have to do is drive the scooter onto the tail lift and then raise it, no need for straps at all then.

I hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

I would recommend a thinner ratchet strap, something like the following :-

I am pretty sure Halfords and other similar retailers sell these sort of straps.

    Hope this helps

Replacing the battery on a mobility scooter

hi, ok remove the seat by turning it to the left, there is a lever normally on the right side that will allow it be turned round,

once you done that, lift the seat in a upwards motion, the cover should come away by gemerally lifting it, it should be attached by velco underneath,

you should now see two batteries. 40Ah batteries will allow you to go further if the battery Ah is lower, 50ah batteries again will allow you can go even further NOT faster, if you buy the larger AH batteries please make sure the dimensions of the batteries will fit within the scooter battery holders.

Replacing motor mounts

It's not as easy as it sounds. Basically you will need to lift the engine off the frame and unbolt the old ones off. I highly doubt that you can do this without disconnecting the transmission. Definitely something that you want an experienced mechanic to help with. It may just not be worth it. If you can lift the engine with the transmission attached (if there is enough room to tilt it up), that would be the best bet but you will need an engine hoist or cherry picker to do this. (THIS IS NOT FOR AN AMATEUR)

Let me know if you have any further questions, this will require a lot of work
