post is a rare exception! The vast majority of password-related posts
deal with machine on which there is just one single admin account. When
it goes bad then it really hurts.
Since I do not know what's going on with your machine I suggest you try some diagnostics, e.g. like so:
net user "xxx"
(replace xxx with the name of the problem account)
(make a note of the date/time when the password was last set)
net user "xxx" 123456
(This will set the password to 123456. Use this value because it is insensitive to keyboard layouts)
net user "xxx"
(is the password date/time correct?)
