Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

1 Answer

I have HP Pavilion 9727cl Entertainment notebook. After upgrading to windows 7 from Windows Vista ,it cannot find driver for coprocessor. On HP site they have listed some of their products for which coprocessor drivers are available & for other models they have no plans to upgrade. Can you tell me what douse is this statement mean? As I understand "DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR PC & BE HAPPY WITH WHATEVER OPERATING SYSTEM YOU HAVE or THROW AWAY YOUR PC & BUY NEW".

    Dear Duane,
I Have not said anything about Windows 7 operating system. I am also very happy with this operating system. I am not happy with HP for making the statement that they do not plan to provide coprocessor driver.

Haha. very funny. I have upgraded my laptop to windows 7 and am very satisfied with it except for one thing. The scroll keys on the touchpad are no long supported under Windows 7 vs. Vista. So, I was, like you disappointed that this happened. Maybe I should have been satisfied with windows vista, for that part of the computer working under vista but not 7.

I, however, like the windows 7 operating system very much compared to the slower buggier vista operating system.

Good luck on buying new pc or laptop computers that employ windows 7 or above (for the future).

I thought you were quoting a statement that is meant to be comical. Having been involved with computers since the Apple II days and original IBM PC days, I am quite familiar with built in obselete nature of any 'new' computer.

I still have an Apple II plus that was bought in 1983 that is now obsolete but makes a nice paper weight.

I guess, in all seriousness, it is good to keep buying new computers with the appropriate operating systems to make the most out of computing at any particular time in history.

I am not surprised, however, that hp hasn't included windows 7 support for the coprocessor. These things, do happen.

Anyway, have a good new year.

Goodmorning.. This is naome from the Philippines. I got this problem with my PC it was infected with this worm/virus named jhowly-bee and I was wondering if my Hp Pavilion Entertainment PC can be converted...

You might try it, if it is already infected with the virus. Make sure it's not a virus that resides in memory or CMOS.

After that, you can format and reinstall with windows XP. There is a program call Driver Genius Professional which will search all the drivers for you.

If it doesn't work, just reinstall the OEM Vista.

Hope it helps.

HP calls my HP Pavilion dv9417cl Notebook PC a "Vista PC" and will not support it after I upgraded the OS to Windows 7. Nvidia doesn't appear to be of any help either. windows auto update keeps...

You should of used the Windows 7 Advisor before upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista. The advisor will indicate the hardware and software updates and changes you'll need before performing the upgrade. If you've already installed Windows 7, you can go to the Microsoft Update page and see what kind of updates you need for Windows 7 to work in you laptop. Also, go to the HP website and check the drivers download page for your computer with Window 7 installed, download the drivers, and then install them one at a time for each device. You won't need to talk to a human to do this.

I installed Windows 7 on a laptop (HP DV2000) now the it give problems to come on, I tried over and over finaly i got Windows Vista 32bit on it, but it still giving the same problem, what can i do or how...

Windows 7 is designed for latest hardware and the Laptop you are using is quite an old. We will face compatibility issues.

I suggest you to run a Compatibility Advisor to know which Windows 7 version is compatible for your Notebook.

Advisor Tool
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Install the suggested version using an upgrade Disk. If you use retail version, you will face the driver compatibility issues.

All windows 7 driver will not available. But, you can use Vista driver for Windows 7 if it is installed using an upgrade disk

We had the same exact problem but with a Compaq Pesario V6000 series notebook. Ours had to do with the NVidia System Management Controller but was listed in the device manager as a coprocessor. Kind of a bland description.
Solution: Downloaded and installed NVidia System Management Controller from here. Hope this helps.
