How do some scorpions glow when light shines on it?

Do scorpions glow? Yes. That's an easy question to answer. It's a bit more difficult to pin down what exactly causes them to glow. In fact, scientists are still working on finding a firm answer to that question.

What scientists do know is that something in the scorpions' exoskeletons cause them to glow. Scorpions, along with other arthropods and insects, have an outer layer called a "cuticle." Unlike the cuticles on your fingers, which are made of hard or dead skin, the cuticle on a scorpion is a part of its exoskeleton. This cuticle has a thin section called the "hyaline layer." The hyaline layer is what reacts to ultraviolet (UV) light, such as black light or moonlight, and causes the scorpion's body to glow.

The hyaline layer is really strong and truly stands up to the tests of time. In fact, scientists have found that even fossilized scorpions glow under UV light. Additionally, when scientists preserve scorpion specimens in liquid-filled jars, the hyaline layer can make the liquid glow! Crazy, right?

While observing scorpions, scientists have noticed that the creatures don't glow immediately after molting. Rather, the cuticles have to harden completely before they shine blue-green in the starlight. But scientists still don't know if the glowing material comes from a chemical reaction in the hardening process, or if the scorpions actually secrete the glowing substance.

I accidentally let my cuticles grow out,now that I have pushed them back, they are kinda sore and the cuticle skin is dry and should I trim the excess skin off?

It is best to moisturise or soften cuticles before pushing them back and if they have grown long then pushing them back a little at a time is best.

I think it is best to leave the excess for a while unless it is a nuisance, leaving mother nature to heal the damage a little before going further. Be careful of possible infection in what are effectively self-inflicted wounds.

I advise the use of a soothing antiseptic ointment, preferably one with a mild local anaesthetic. In a few days when the soreness has disappeared you will be able to trim the excess as it becomes accessible - a little at a time.

Which ingredients in a shampoo should I avoid if I have chronic folliculitis?

First thing to ask is if you have had your blood sugar levels checked. Check with the doctor to see if there are any implications there.

The general wisdom seems to be to avoid cnditioning shampoos which leave a coating on the hair and scalp, and also hair gel.

Does it matter if you wash your hair in cold or hot water?

most people use hot water to wash their hair, firstly it feels more comfortable but also it seems to remove the excess shampoo and conditioner better.

But when you have finished washing your hair, try and do your final rinse with ice cold water as this closes and flattens the hair cuticles and adds to the shine.

Nails lifting or falling right off. Not lasting as long as pedicure

I too have experienced the same problem with the OPI and have since spoken with others who say the same. Try the Gelish brand. I have it and it seems to stay on better than the others. The best, however, is Creative Nail Designs, but the price reflects the better quality. In the meantime, however, be sure your nails are good and dry before you start and that your cuticles are trimmed back. Make every effort to keep the gel from getting on your cuticles or the skin on the sides of your nail bed. This seems to cause lifting to begin. Also, put on thin coats of base coat, gel and top coat. I usually use two coats of gel color but both are very thin. Lastly, if you do accidentally get some gel somewhere other than the nail itself, wait until it sets and gently trim it away and then file the edge with a 220 file. This should help with your lifting problem. Good luck!

I put the 5fr red velvet hair color in my sisters hair with a red intensifer and its washing out can you tell me why

you need to leave it on longer. Red fades quickly try using joico cuticle seal after coloring . after coloring try to just rinse out color, don't use shampoo spray the cuticle sealer on the hair and don't wash hair for 2 days..it should keep it from fading so quickly.

How do we get rid of the Vero ultra Red mahogany out of hair we have bleached it 4 times its now pink

Stop Putting bleach on it. You are only opening the cuticle and driving the direct dyes further into the cuticle. Use a "stripping" shampoo on barely damp hair and put your client under the dryer for a bit and see if that pulls some of it out. Then you may have to color a little darker than you would like.

I USED 5RR MIXED EQUAL PARTS WITH 5B. WITH BLEACH FOOLS. WHEN RINSED THE RED ATTACHED TO THE BLOND PIECES AND TURNED THEM PINK. NOW HOW SHOULD I GET RID OF THE PINK?

when you bleached your hair you removed all the pigment from your hair which is why your hair turned pink. You need to use a color the same level you want to achieve but make sure it is an N ( to put back the primary colors ) this is called a filler. after you rinse and dry then apply the 5RR . it helps to rinse out not shampoo joico color esp the red series then use joico cuticle sealer. don't shampoo your hair for 2 days , it should help with the red fading. always use a filler when coloring bleached hair.

    Motorola S9

Whenever I workout, I sweat from head to toe, and have the same issue, track changing on their own, volume adjusts to minimum by its self. Once this occurs, you can't "re-adjust" the volume, (until they dry out). Other controls don't seem to work either, (pause, forward / reverse tracks). Bottom line, if you workout, if you are like 99% of humans, you will sweat, and if you do, the same thing will happen. I am on my 2nd pair, about to be on my 3rd. Sadly, Motorola was way off when they said these were sweat and water resistant!
