The cable that comes with the PS3 can be plugged into the front flip up panel for initial setup. However, you'd be better off getting a PS3 component cable and using one of the component connectors in the rear of the set. The 55513 doesn't have HDMI, so that option is out. If the PS3 was previously connected to a HDMI TV, you'll need to reset it by holding the power button down for quite a while while turning it on. I did it a while back and I think that's what it was. This will bring it out of HDMI mode and back to compsite. Hope this helps.

I have had the similar problem with a similar model DLP but same make. I had my PS3 hooked up via HDMI and noticed that there was some type of resolution error. I had to use a another tv to lower the resolution. This fixed the problem. I hooked it back up and then increased the resolution to the desired settings. I did however replace both the bulb and the color wheel before the incident happened. Though I can't be sure if it was the tv or the PS3 issue.Hope this helps as a possible solution for you

How do i change from 480i to 1080 on my Toshiba 52HM95 DLP im trying to hook up my playstation 3 with an HDMI cable but it wont switch over to 1080i

Most TVs choose the resolution based on the signal coming in. Be careful if you try and use 1080P. Not all TVs support it. 1080P is only on HDMI. set the playstation to 1080i before connection.
Some TVs and Playstation HDMI do not mix well due to software in the HDMI ports. Try RGB cables.

it sounds like the playstation is still set for 480i. do you have it hooked up composite? (one yellow vid cable) that could be your problem, ps3 optimal with component(red green blue vid wires) or HDMI, then make sure your settings are saving properly on your unit

The only way this is possible is if you have individual inputs (1,2,3) and use the input button to switch between. You should have at least 2, check the back, and even should have one in front. Make sure the inputs don't share audio inputs, it will say on the cabinet.

Looks like you are going to be working with the following:

1080i (HDTV) • 480p (EDTV) • 480i (SDTV)

Hook up depends on what else you have connected to the TV.  If you have nothing connected to the DTV component inputs, I suggest using those, as it will allow up to 1080i.  Otherwise, use the 2 other component connections directly to the left of the DTV connections.
