Question about Samsung R530 Notebook

1 Answer

My laptop was working just fine, then one day I went to turn it on and nothing happened. It may have shut down on its own by running out of battery.

Hello,

Remove the battery, plug it in and try the power button again. If it powers on, connect the battery and you are good to go. If still no good, have someone test the power adapter with a voltage meter. the power adapter may be dead. You can also go to a store that sells universal laptop power adapters, and test with one of them (with the battery removed.

Let me know what happens as I may be able to help some more.

Regards,

Joe

I would say your battery is fine. What happened is the computer was running off the battery even though it recognized it was plugged in. There is a piece in the power jack that tells the laptop that you are plugged in, but it doesn't necessarily mean the adapter is working. I would have the adapter checked to be sure it's working before I suspected the battery.

Power light on, nothing happens

Try holding down the power button for several seconds. This will shut down the PC. You should then be able to reboot the system.

I have 1998 Chevy Silverado with over 200,000 miles. One morning I started it up just fine, backed out of the drive way, and it just died. I turned the ignition to off, and turned it back on and parked it....

Check your battery terminals. They may be corroded or just loose. If you get it running again have the battery and charger tested at an Advance or Autozone.

Hope this helps.

Screen went black, but still on...turned it off...now won't start up.

All Dell laptops have a similar design flaw (in my opinion). The socket where the power cord plugs in to the laptop is probably loose. Use a toothpick or something to check it. Don't use anything metalic. If the socket moves easily then it has probably come loose from the motherboard. You may want to take the laptop to a computer repair shop to have the power socket soldered back to the motherboard. If you have the knowledge you can do this yourself but I don't suggest it. Laptops have a LOT of small parts. Hope this helps! Thanks!

Most likely the contact point of your battery pins are not snug enough. If under warranty, then replace the battery, else give it to a technician to do this clean-up operation. Try another battery too to crosscheck!.........sodeep

Try this,

Unplug the laptop, remove the battery from the underside (there should be a catch to push, and the battery will pop out). Then wait a few seconds and put the the power cord back in and the battery. Hold down the on button for a few seconds and boot it up.
