Freezer high temp light on constantly.Freezer just about freezes ice cubes, but is not cold enough.
Have defrosted, had the back panel off and cleared ice from pipes, but still getting high temp red light.
Suspect fan might be faulty, but have no means of checking it other than sitting in front of it waiting for it to start(have restarted and sat in front of exposed fan for about 5 mins and nothing happened) but at other times i think i can hear the fan kick in.
Any help grateful,as the wife wants a new fridge/freezer and i reckon it might just be a simple repair job.

as for high tempreture do u mean it is above the 0 degree normal that its supposed to be set to your freezer goes into a defrost cycel once every 6-8 hours.if your tempreture is rising on the other hand there are a couple things for you to check make sure the fan inside the freezer compartment is running.the following things you will need a meter for to measure the resistance while the power is off check the t-stat,heater to make sure there is continuity if you have continuity in both of these then you would need to check the defrost timer If you are unable to do these tests i strongly suggest you call a technician
Hold in the freezer temp and the power cool buttons for 12 seconds, when the display changes toggle the refrigereator button untill desplay sAYS 03. Then toggle the freezer temp button or poew freezew button to a lower setting than what you have now.
can you check the resistance of the fan?..or even the voltage going to the fan ( just be carefull ) if there is presence of voltage, then the problem is the fan, if there is none, you have to trace why. if it has a diagram, you an trace it. or the switch could have been open that is why it is not running. push the door switch if it has one and check again for presence of voltage. i hope i was able to help.
these machines commonly do not defrost sometimes an intermittant fault remove back panel from freezer and if im right, the pipework will be iced up especially at the top. de-ice carefully with a hairdryer but don't blow hot air on the stats mounted on the pipework. turn on and check fan runs as well
Adjust the temperature control for the freezer to a normal setting. Fast freeze is only for when new products are put in that need to be frozen. This locks the system into a continuous run mode and could be responsible for the freezing condition in the refrigerator section. Check the temperatures with a thermometer as the sensor for the freezer temperature could be bad causing the light to come on.
On most ice makers, if the water pressure drops too low, the valve will not open to fill the ice maker.
Frozen water line?
On some units, the water line supplying the ice make can freeze up preventing water from getting to the ice maker.
Freezer cold enough?
Are you sure of the temp inside your freezer?
Place a small thermometer that can register temps around the freezing range. (example of a thermometers not to use are: a candy thermometer or a thermometer used to take a person's temp.) If you do not have one or do not want to purchase one, put a bowl of water in your freezer. If the water does not turn to ice in say 6 to 8 hours, your freezer is not cold enough.
if i read the english right, the compressor runs but the freezer fan only runs for a short time. no fan then no cooling.
there is a fan stat so that the fan only runs when the evap is down to temp. this may be faulty. also on some hotpoint, the fan switches off when door opened. check door switch operating ok. this may also explain problem with fridge lamp
