Question about Kodak EasyShare C663 Digital Camera

Lens won't go back in

The batteries died while the lens was out & camera was in use. The batteries are now charged & nothing happens. The lens stays open, the camera won't turn back on. Doesn't work hooked up to the computer. The red light on the back, next to the easy share light flashes slowly when I try & turn on the camera. Nothing else happens, no images on the screen. I can't take pictures. It's like the camera just died.

Some times if the batteries get wet it will short the system and it won't turn back on... if you dropped it something may have shifted inside blocking the messaging systems inside the camera. i would take it to a local camera shop.

My camera lenes wont stay open

Usually the lens closing is a sign that the battery is dying. If there's not much power left for the camera, it will first close the lens so it's protected before powering down. Make sure you have fresh batteries, fully charged. If the battery is going bad it may not hold a charge for very long but appear to be charged when you first intall it.

If so, there is something wrong with the lens, and this how to fix camera lens error will be helpful. When I turn the power on the lens extends out of the camera and the power on light immediately goes off. The lens stays extended. no photo can be taken. This is a SonyDSC-P73 camera.

The only time that happens with mine is when I am low/out of battery power. I usually have to replace the batteries (even if the lens is still out) and then it works fine. Find it happens more often with rechargeable batteries because they still have a bit of power left, where regular batteries have nothing left after they 'die'.

Try to remove the rechargeable battery and use a battery of the same type but an alkaline like the energizer. Sometime rechargeable battery malfunctions that it seems fully charged but actually is not. If the camera continue to power on when you replace the battery it simply means that your problem is in the battery.

They do, occasionally. Try removing the battery, leaving it out for an hour or so, and then put it back in again. If the manual says that there is a reset use that, but removing the battery usually does the trick.

D80 battery dies when using larger lens

If your 70-300 lens is using VR and your 18-135 lens is not then this is correct. VR uses a lot of battery juice so you should try to keep it off if you are not using it. Also, try toset auto-focus off also if you are concerned about battery life.

My camera won't turn on. the screen flashes, but nothing happens. it turns right back off. the lens is pushed all the way out like its zoomed, but its obviously not since i cant so anything with it....

I would try a new set of batteries.. It sounds like maybe the batteries you are using are not charging correctly or that the cell has well... died.. so try a new set of batteries and if that doesn't fix the problem I would (if you have electronic experience) take out the screws and see if there are any loose components inside that are making it so the camera isn't operational
