I have Vista OS on my laptop & have never been able to get automatic updates to work. I have had nothing but problems with this OS & want to instal Win 7 but I am told I can't do that until I see if my computer is compatible with Win 7. I can't check compatibility until I instal updates which I can"t do. When I try to install Win 7 it says I am missing DU.DLL & Winsetup.dll are missing. Can you help?

Don't worry about "compatibility" issues. You can pretty much force Win 7 onto just about any laptop.

What you need to do is backup your files (that is if you have any you want saved)

You need to do a CLEAN install, not the UPGRADE when you boot from the Windows 7 cd.

Delete ALL of the partitions...then hit NEXT.

When it's done installing, run the updates and if you're missing any drivers after the updates post back the model of your laptop / desktop and we'll help you patch the missing ones.

Best of luck!

Acer 5810TZ-4238 upgraded to windows 7 32 bit ultimate and no sound from internal speakers

Hi! The problem with your laptop is maybe you installed a wrong Audio Card driver. You may want to visit Acer support center: Download Drivers and Manuals Acer Official Site .

From here you can download the perfect drivers for your laptop.

*Additional Info: Maybe you installed a wrong OS platform on your laptop. You can search if it is '64-bit' not '32-bit'.

Hope this will help :)

My camera it not support for win 7, 32bit, please tell me why not thanks

Hi,

The Computer model VGNFJ270/B was shipped with XP OS and Sony had provided an upgrade path to Windows Vista. Sony does not recommend installing any other OS in the computer, as they are the OEM manufacturer of the product, they will know which features may fail to work with a new environment.
The drivers are tested to work with XP and Vista environment.

However, as we have seem that Vista drivers had generally worked with Windows 7 OS, I would suggest that you try installing the Vista Drivers for the camera and check if it helps:

Install VAIO® Camera Capture Utility:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNFJ270B&upd_id=3604&os_id=27

Then, install Sony® Camera Filter Driver Update

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNFJ270B&upd_id=2471&os_id=27

And install VAIO® Camera Utility Update

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNFJ270B&upd_id=2465&os_id=27

Thanks!!!!

I need the SERVICE manual for a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6197 (PART: PSPAAU01200S). Additionally, I cannot get any sound from the laptop following a complete wipe & RECOVERY using the 2 Toshiba...

you might try going into device manager and uninstalling the device. then reboot the machine and let windows install the driver automatically. If that doesn't work you should try to locate an older driver, several revisions back that may be less buggy.

My hp 5740 won't print for my new hp laptop, but prints for an older Toshiba laptop. I tried downloading driver softwear, but nothing is helping. Please help

What OS does your new laptop have? If Windows 7 or Vista, the driver is in the OS. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&product=357202& has more information.

For Windows 7, the install is easiest if you have Windows Update set to automatically download and install updates for hardware. Click on the Windows key, in the Search Programs and Files box, type "change device installation" without the quotes. Click Change device installation settings, and the appropriate window will open. Select Yes, do this automatically (recommended) if it isn't the current option. Then Click Save Changes. Restart your computer if needed.

Then plug in the printer's USB cord to the printer and turn it on. Then connect the cable to the computer and watch for a Your devices are ready message.

If you have already connected the printer to the computer, but did not have Windows Update on automatic. Click the Windows key or the Start button, click on Windows Update. Look for any HP updates in the list and install. Try checking for new updates if you do not see the update.

Please note that you will lose some of the features of the printer. (the button for PhotoSmart Essentials will not work for example.) You will also need to set Printing Properties from File> Print > Properties instead of HP Toolbox.

I hope this helps.

Dell inspiron 6400/E1505 audio drivers not working.

I can see how vista would screw up drivers through automatic updates. You could not be the 1st.
There are driver cleaners out there.

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745

Make sure you know what chipset you have, probably AC97 and use the driver cleaner to remove it.
Reboot and install the driver from dells web site.

Your problem: "I have Windows Vista installed on my laptop."

Unfortunately, as with a lot of MS service packs, they can crash some computers. You need your windows vista disk and, booting from it, you can select repair your vista installation. This should take care of the problem. Then don't update to sp1 for a few months.
