Question about Mitsubishi Televison & Video

2 Answers

1 Jan., 2011 Hi Fix It Representative: We have an old Mitsubishi 38 inch TV - model cs-313050. It will no longer turn on properly. When the power button is pressed on, the green light above the button will light up, and the sound of a click can be heard in the back of the TV. After about two seconds, another clicking sound can be heard and the green light above the power button turns off. The screen shows no lighting activity at all, nor any audio. Just a few minutes before this happened, we could get the screen to turn on, but it would only display a thin horizontal light line amidst the background of black. The audio would come on. We've tried resetting it with the audio reset button, unplugging the tv for a while and plugging it back in, but the TV will no longer work. Can you tell us what to do to fix this problem? Sincerely, Gary Woloshyniuk Sherwood Park, Alberta

Hello,

The problem with this television is that the lamp is bad, you need to replace the lamp of the television and it will be in good condition once again. To replace the lamp, you will have to get the appropriate screwdriver, then you unplug the television for about 6 hours so the high voltage in it will dissipate, because, television stores current in it. Then you get a cup to put all loosed screws in,then you turn to the back of the television, then check the lamps compartment, then you unscrew it open, turn off the lamps switch, then you unscrew the screw that is holding the lamp together, then you remove the lamp, assess it and replace it with a new one.

After doing that, replace the t-con board of your television also, it is in the upper middle of the main board of the television, replace it also before reassembling the television.

Check all boards on the television for bad capacitors also before reassembling the television back together, in order for ou not to loosen the television more than once.

If you are not familiar with such electrical activity, i will strongly advice you seek the assistance of a friend that can do such or a neighbor to assist you with this.

That should do the job for you.

Take care and good luck.
Happy new Year!!!!!!!

This model suffers from vertical failure associated with a defective cap in the power supply.
A known failure mode and a kit is available from Mits to overcome this problem.
There is also another problem associated with the horizontal driver transformer.
You would be best advised to unplug the set and have it serviced before the CRT's are ruined from repeated attempts to turn it on.
There will also be quite a number of leaky caps in different areas of the circuits that will need replacing to circumvent future failures.

1996 mitsubishi 40" tv has a black screen and

no pic at all usiually means the the heater element in the picture tube it self is burned out. Also there could be a problem with the internal power supply that gives electricity to the heater element. These are all thing the cunsumer cant fix. You either need to trust ONLY a certified Mitsubishi TV repair man, or replace the TV.
I know it's not great news, but if this advice helps, please give me a good rating.

Actually the model is cs-313050. its quite old. the problem is that the tv won't work in the way that when you turn it on (it won't even turn on anymore) there is nothing but a white or blue lineright in...

you didn't mentioned if it is a horizontal line but i think it is.
It seems that you have a faulty vertical I.C. that scan vertical line.Because you it is defective you've lost the vertical scanning thats why you have only a horizontal line on the screen.

You will confirm it by powering on the unit with your cable signal present. When the sound is present on every channel it is confirm that you have a problem on the vertical section. You must look for a qualified technician to solve the problem....

Sorry to be the one to inform you Sheri, but this set is known to have several bad capacitors in the sweep as well as the power supply. Unless you have an ESR type capacitor checker, your going to have to take it in for service, by a pro. Hope yopu did'nt pay to much for it. Good Luck
