I have a macbook pro and i cannot connect to our home wireless internet. our other dell laptop has no problems connecting to the internet though. When I try to join our network it says there was an error joining the airport network.. then the name of our network. i have connecting with this computer to this network before and no it won't connect to it at all.. ?????
Verizon, the ones who sent me the router, helped me fix the problem. The router/modem software has to be updated because the old software can't work with the new version of leopard. The technical support guy did all of the updating via a screen share, so your best bet is to call the company who sent you the router and get their help.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

So you're knowledgeable, good. Do you have the SSID broadcasting or not? Do you have WEP or WPA, etc active?
Can you find the network you are trying to connect to under preferences on your MacBook Pro?
Does your network show up? Either way, delete it and start over. If you re-set up your network and it still doesn't find it, but the other machines in your house work wirelessly, it is still a configuration issue. Do you have your wireless network as the default network to find?
Do you have a help desk that you can call at your workplace?
Give me more details and i'll continue to try and assist.
Hi there, the only reason it doesn't work it's because the wireless key is not correct. It usually shows limited connectivity when the wireless key is not correct. Even just a letter upper or lower case will cause the problem. Since you are connected with the other computer go under the Router settings and double check the wireless key. Check what kind of encryption the router is using, make sure your wireless adapter can support it.
I believe you are connecting to the internet using wireless. Are you using this laptop to connect to a home wireless network or you connect using a cable. This will be a good way to analyze your problem
Post the ip address that you are getting. You can get the ip by start -run-type cmd enter you will be in the black command prompt just type ipconfig and let me know what you get under ip address.
Also let me know the wireless router, your Internet Service Provider and also how many systems are there are at your home if you are connecting to a home wireless network. Also let me know which is firewall or antivirus program that you have.
thank you do let me know if this works and do share your experience.
So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.
make sure that your wireless or wifi light is on,you may try to press Fn and F2 at the same time to enable or swith on wireless..if wifi is already on,try going to start >> control panel >> network connections,go to wireless network connection and double click it, it will give you a list of wireless network,or right click and then "view available wireless network", if you get an error that windows cannot configure wireless connection,go to start >> all programs >> loo for either dell wlan utility or intel pro wireless, by opening that app,it will also search for wireless network in range, just double click on the network name where you want to connect and you sould be connected provided that "wireless network" doesnt have encryption like wpa or wep key..if your connecting to your home network, you should have wireless router at home and wireless is enabled on the router.
