I have the same problem - the one clue is that if I power cycle the modem, the problem goes away for a few hours, however the problem persists with a restart of the laptop. I've noticed the problem crop up when the wireless signal diminishes. When it returns I can't join the network. Same thing happens if my laptop falls asleep for a few minutes and I try to log back in.

Seems to me that either the laptop or the modem looses the plan along the way. There is something about the handshake after the connection has established and lost - that the modem isn't ok with.

Verizon, the ones who sent me the router, helped me fix the problem. The router/modem software has to be updated because the old software can't work with the new version of leopard. The technical support guy did all of the updating via a screen share, so your best bet is to call the company who sent you the router and get their help.

Can't get wireless internet to work on dell laptop

May I suggest you give Network Magic a try at solving your connectivity problems. Free to download and evaluate, you may well find it is well worth the couple $ for the 5 full licenses. Get it here: http://www.purenetworks.com/nmlp/home-networking.php?gclid=CPua-J-J1J4CFVw55QodUi_Nrw&src=google&kw=network+magic+download

In addition to connectivity, NM will aid you with security and sharing as well as other fine features.

Lose Internet connection on wireless network

Go to the router configuration and change the options so you could use both of them, there is an option says only one type of connection or both of them, change it to both, and everything will be fine.

I have installed an Airport Extreme wireless system for my home. It works fine on an old pc hard wired and wireless on my macbook pro and my windows xp64 system. It can't find an IP address from my Dell...

You need to make sure the wireless card of the Dell is set to the same settings of the Airport. Also, try to ping the Dell under the ipconfig command. If you still have no connection, then you have a problem with the wireless card.

Windows vista laptop lost connection to the internet

Start off simple. Try a different port on the router. If that doesn't work, try a new cable. If that doesn't work, go to the Device Manager in Windows. (Right-click My Computer, select Manage, go to Device Manager). Does the card look okay? Has it been disabled or need a driver update? If we're still looking at issues then I would take a look at your router security. How many DHCP licences do you allowed to be assigned? Also do you have security in place (WEP/WPA, Mac Filtering, SSID Broadcast)? If you are light on security and only have a few assignable DHCP licences, you may have neighbors leeching your internet access.

To clarify: DHCP assigns a network IP address to each device on its network. Most Linkys routers have a default of 10, you may have reduced this yourself. If you have, you've limited the # of devices allowed on the network. So if you have 3 DHCP licenses available, and a couple neighbors are leeching, your Dell may not get assigned an ip.

If you still need further help, let me know.

DI-524 One wireless connection makes others not ok

This is unusual, as it seems the router is allocating two pc's the same IP address. Go into your routers settings (internet browser and type the router address, eg 192.168.1.1)' and look at Client DHCP list and look at the IP addresses that each pc has been given and see if two are the same, they should be one digit difference, that being the last. Also go into the properties of both your pc's wireless cards and ensure that they are set to obtain an ip address automatically.
