can you please be more specific -- I am not sure what " starting to oil plugs " mean.
but I work out at a fishing lodge in Alaska and we run the same motors on all our boats AND in the back of my head I am sure I know what your problem is, I just want to make sure I give you the right information.

Hello,

In order to know if its bad fuel, too much oil or low compression you need to perform a compression check. You should have no more than 20% difference across all three. Compression should be above 100psi. This will show you where the problem is.

Hope this helps,Matt

Fuel starvation? Twisted or kinked fuel line? Some may be getting through to run the engine but not enough under load. Throttle adjusted properly? Only enough movement for low rev range.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Faulty main circuit breaker and or connections.
4. Faulty ignition coil and or connections.
5. Faulty spark plug, oil or gas fouled, wrong heat range or service type, wrong gap, loose in the cylinder head, broken electrode or insulator.

7. Faulty ignition module, switch, CKP, MAP, CMP, sensor and or any connector in the ignition circuit could have corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets

2009 Yamaha yZ250 4th gear keeps getting hot and galling

Hi, Msportum5618 and I have been told, read, ridden, and believe the Yamaha YZ250 is an ICON and one of the greatest dirt bikes ever made. Any bike is subject to failure, especially competitive performance machines. The oil type is not the issue the usual suspects are:
1. Incorrect transmission oil level.
2. The oil delivery system to the shaft is malfunctioning.
3. The shaft is bent, runout should be 0.002" max bearing/running surface damaged/galled or has lost its hardness due to excessive heat/blue color and gear failure, a new replacement recommended.
For this scenario, you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.
