White screen on computer

by internet connects do you just mean that it says you're connected in the taskbar, open a command prompt by pressing the windows key and the R key at the same time. type cmd and press enter, then type 'ping www.google.com' and press enter, if you get a reply then you are actually connected and have traffic, if it times out, then you are not actually connected to the internet.

When the computer starts it's fine but after sometime getting white lines and hazy screen

Hi,
this might actually be a VGA problem check the back of the system or the VGA terminal if the pins are complete. Get a new VGA. That should do it.
Hope this helps

Possibly Video Card problem?

Mikolan,

That is so crazy.
You say you previously was able to see the POST screen and now you can't?
You say you switched monitors and card outputs to no avail? Is the card an ATI with an aux Molex power connector?
Is the puter actually going into standby or hibernation?
Have a boot disk? or a PE?
How about a Linux self-install distibution CD. Just kidding about that last one. Not really, you can see if the puter does respond.

Don't rule out a faulty power supply. Video card fail is usually one long, two short beeps at POST. or 8 short.

Boot your lap in Safe mode:
  • Switch on the laptop then press F8 till the Windows boot option menu appears. From that menu select Safe Mode, if it works then no serious problem Just install driver for display and........ njoy

PC or monitor, signal problems

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

HELLO

is your mouse and keyboard plugged into a PS2 connector http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ps-2-ports.jpg
look inside of your case and see if any capacitors are buldging on your motherboard the tops of the capacitors should be level/flat if they're ok, sounds like they are going, look for brown rusty color also around tops of capacitors, might be your outputs are going. If you have your mouse and keyboard plugged into ps2 ports try a USB Mouse and keyboard, borrow one first or buy a usb laser mouse for $12 worth a try even if your ps2 ports are blown, use the usb ports for mouse/keys ;)
