Samsung blown capacitors

Hello Chuck,

Before you replace the capacitors on the power supply board you need to check with Samsung. Your TV model falls under the class action lawsuit settlement and Samsung has agree to repair any TVs with faulty capacitors on the power supply board that were affected. You can get full details on the settlement here:

http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-has-reached-a-settlement-in-class-action-lawsuit-over-faulty-tv-power-supplies/

This settlement covers any listed unit for 18months starting Mar 2 2012.

To make sure inverter or not, switch on than knock the panel smoothly. If you see flashing light on area knocked, that indicate inverter is ok.
If that still any questions, please let me know.

Once the TV is pluged into the power there is no standby light and the tv will not turn on.

If there is no light in the front at all, it means that the 5vdc stand by power supply is not working, without this, nothing else will start up.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

Blown power supply

If it's possible, install a small computer style fan and direct the air stream over the power supply. You should then get another 10 years out of it. Unit needs ventilation and cooling air. Hopefully, it isn't installed in tight quarters.

Hitachi PDP 55HDT79 got no picture

that power supply is a switch mode power supply, which means it looks for an input signal to turn on.
that signal comes from the main pc board.
if there is excessive current draw,it will shut down.
check the input, and the screen circuit it is driving

If the transformer is part of the power supply board, the board is available as an assembly. Please verify that your model number is LTV-32W1. If so, the part number is: 4900214080 and is available from tritronicsinc.com for $208.33
