Question about D-Link Wireless N 150 Home Router 4Port Switch 80211nbased 150Mbps DIR601

1 Answer

I have a Dlink N150 router. I have reset the router by pushing the reset button in the back and am now trying to reinstall it. I am using the installation disk and I get to the step 3 of 6 where I connect the router to my computer and put in the power to the back of the router. Then it sits in Locating Router stage and then gives me a message saying that I have to reset the username and password to the router and then tells me to remove the disc, restart me computer and then install disc again. i have done this twice now and I always get caught up at Step 3. Any advice??

When you reset the router, did you press and hold down the RESET button for 20 seconds to make sure that it was completely set back to factory defaults?

Be sure you have pressed the reset button and held it pressed for at least 10 seconds. A simple push and release only reboots the router (keeping the old settings). A full factory reset (10 seconds) will replace all settings in the router with the factory default (username and password as well).

I have a D-Link wireless N 300 Router DIR-615 I canot get the password to work to add more items to work with my router yes it has a reset button and i have pushed it..

Check the label under or at the back of the router for the default user name and password.. If you can't connect with this information try a reset ... hold the reset button in for 30 seconds to attempt a reset. If unsuccessful try again but also hold the button in while unplugging and reconnecting the AC adaptor at the back of the unit. If it still fails to reset after trying this a few times the unit may have a hardware failure.

I have forgotten my user id & password.

On most routers this process works everytime.
First push and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds, count slow, longer is better then not long enough.
After the reset unplug the device for 30 seconds.
Plus the router back in and perform another 30 second reset.
Now try to login to the device with it's default username / password
This is usually root with blank password for this model.

Did you enter the security key (password)? It may be your laptop? Try resetting the D-Link to default settings and connecting to the laptop. They reconfigure the SSID and Security Key. Write down the info for future use. Here's a user Manual: http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/home-solutions/connect/routers/dir-600-wireless-n-150-home-router

To a password on my dlink wifi router

If you have forgotten your password you can reset by hitting the reset switch on your router. This is a pinhole on the back of the router near the power cord. Use a pen or pencil to push the button at the bottom of the pinhole to reset the router.

Try user: admin pass:password and user:admin pass:(blank) NOTE the second one is a blank password, not a password that reads (blank). If none of that works, you can usually reset the router with a button on the back by holding the button for about 5-10 seconds, then releasing. It'll reboot then once it comes up it's back to factory settings. You'll have to set everything up again, but it's a guaranteed way to get in :) (once it's reset, the login information will be either what I told you or what you tried).

Should be a reset button on the rear of the router. You will need a thin pin or a ball point pen to push it in. Hold it in for about five secounds when router is powered up and it will reset itself to the settings it had when you got it out of the box.
