My washer has stopped spinning. Is it a band that is broke or is the motor broken?

could be 8-10 different things. need to know a few more things in order to best guess it. 1. does the washer go through all of the other actions EXCEPT spin? i.e. does it agitate after filling and starting the wash cycle? how old is the machine? were any of the belts previously replaced? have you owned the machine since it was new? what size loads do you wash+how often? where has the machine spent its life? type of climate is determined by state and whether machine is inside house, on screened porch, outside, etc. amount of humidity plays a huge role in life of both machine parts+belts.

How do i put the washing machine belt back on?

I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. Therefore the washer ID doesn't mean
anything to me. It's hard to understand why the belt came off. Usually when the belt gets loose and starts slipping, the washer won't spin, and that's the problem. Since you know the belt came off, I'll presume you have the back off, if not then you'll have to remove the back. First thing is to pull the electrical plug. Then disconnect the water hoses after turning off the water supply valves. When you disconnect the hoses, they will be full of water, so have a small bucket handy to catch the water. Now take the back off and get down where you can see how the motor is mounted. It is a common thing for the belt to stretch, so they built in provisions to tighten it. There is a locking nut or bolt which holds the belt adjustment. The motor is mounted so that it can be turned to tighten the belt. Put the belt back on the pulleys and turn the motor to tighten the belt. Since your belt came off, which is unusual, take a good look at it before you put it back on. If it is damaged or stretched so far that you can't tighten it, you'll need to replace it. Use a bar, or a long screwdriver or a large crescent wrench to hold the belt tight while you secure the tension lock. I usually need help when I do this. You would be surprised to see all the information available if you google clothes washer repair, I hope this helps you. If it does (or if it doesn't) please rate my help on fixya.

Replacing belt

Put The Belt On The Motor First Then Put What You Can Get Of The Belt On The Other Pulley And Turn It. It Will Give You The Anchorage Needed To Put The Belt Back In Position. If This Doesn't Help Let Me Know And I Will Further Assist You.

The belt from an Indesit washing machine broke a wire

The wire you refer to is an earth wire, it has probably pulled of the motor or the frame of the m/c.
If you can't see where it came from, don't worry too much, all you need to do is fasten it to a metal part of the m/c so that is is making a contact to earth.
I assume that you can get a belt o/k
Make sure that the drum and motor are free before you fit new belt.
Plz rate my solution
Thanks.

Washing machine

If it is a direct drive Kenmore or Whirlpool washer, then most likely you have a broken motor coupler.
Post back with any questions.

Need a little more information. Is the belt still in tact ? Is it weaving through the pulleys ? If it it then you need to check the idler pulley to see if it is worn. If the belt is broke then there are several steps that must be taken.

never heard the vinegar in the rince water thing but who knows! do you know if the washer drum is working in the wash cycle? as you know it should tumble in both directions. if you ca check that it would be a big help to know if the motor is working. it could be something as simple as the belt broke. so get back to me with the answer and we can go from there. thanks
