The problem is probably a bad power transformer that will need to be replaced the best way is to contact JVC and they will be able to help you more. it may be easier to purchase a new reciever.

I have jvc rx 801vbk and it is not putting a sound out i am positive it is not the speakers problem ??

Before you go crazy, and before you do anything, and before you take any of the above advice check the fuses!! Pop the top, look straight down to see 4 or 5 'buss' fuses. Lift at least one end of each fuse and check for continuity with a simple volt-ohm meter. I bet you find at least one bad. Bear in mind it blew for a reason so procede with extreme caution.

Major power surge/outage & JVC won't stay on. Clicks on and starts to cycle, then shuts down. Fuse blown? Reset button somewhere? or trashed?

If appears "OVERLOAD" before turn off, you ned change a couple of resistors of 10 ohms at 5 watts near the digital board (Optical inputs)

JVC RX-6042S shuts down after 5 seconds

It will be one of the transistors that regulate the lower volatges (5V, 12V...)
I ffixed mine. the heatsinking on those transistors is pathetic, and its no wonder they dont last.
Mine was the 5V circuit, which also supplies the DSP board. so if you are getting a DSP NG, that could be that as well.
Check Q1434 and Q1404. if one is faulty, it drags the other one down with it.
Good luck.
