Please see the link below for more information on Protect mode. If you can update this with the make and model of the unit, I should be able to provide additional details about the possible defect and methods to resolve them.

My Harmon kardon is stuck in protect mode

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Double check all connections .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. Worth fixing.

DENON UD-M30 CD Player is displaying the word PROTECT and will not function. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Many thanks.

HI:
Usually when a receiver goes into protect mode, there are several reasons, One is there is a bad speaker connected to the unit, this will cause the unit to to into protect mode, try disconnecting all speaker from the unit and turning it on if it does not go into protect then one of the speakers are bad. Another reason is the power output Amplifier IC is shorted inside the unit. Another reasons could be that speaker wires are touching each other and causing a short. Disconnect all unit connecting to the unit and try turning on, if it stays on and no protect then connect them including the speakers one at time until you determine which is causing the error. If it goes into protect with nothing but the unit on then the Output IC is bad and the unit needs servicing.

When i turn power on it came on and says protect then turn off..please help

The reason why this is happening is because the reciever is going into protection mode due to a short circuit to the amplifier. It might be a speaker that is shorted out internally or there might be some speaker wires making contact with each other at the back of the reciever or at the speaker. The first thing I would do is disconnect all the speaker wires from the back of the reciever(make sure to label them before removing so you know how they go back). After removing the speaker wires turn on the reciever and see if it goes into protection mode. If it does then there is a good possibility that the internal amplifier might have a short. If it does not go into protection mode then that is good because there is more than likely a short on one of the speaker wires or speaker itself. Now connect one set of speaker wires at a time. After you connect each one try turning on the reciever until it goes into protection mode again. When it does you will have your culprit. Then try swapping speakers with that problem wire set and see if it still does it. If it does then it could just be the wires but also switch the wires to verify that the amplifier does not have a bad channel. If swapping both the wires and the speaker swapping produces the protection mode then that channel for the amplifier will be defective. I hope I have not confused you too much.

Getting out of protect mode I have a Denon 787 receiver. It was working fine for 8 months. All of sudden, my reciever goes into protect mode after playing for about 30 min. Right after it goes into protect...

most of the receivers come with a cooling fan inside see if its working they usually work when you turn the volume up,, if its working that means you are playing it to loud if you lower the volume a little it will play just fine..( if the fan inside is not working thats the reason it goes into protect mode and it means you must have it repaired,, it goes into protect mode to prevent furter damage to the unit or the speakers,,

Model 15e604d won't come out of standby mode

This television is having a problem with component failure. The reason you can tell this is you do see the video information on the screen before the unit goes into the protection mode. The protection mode protects the circuits from doing more damage to themselves.Seeing the the video shows that the television is still functioning. The television needs to be tested and serviced at a service center. The service center will have all the service information to analyze the problem and do the repairs.I hope this information will help you with your problem.

My amp automatically goes into protect mode

There are 4 reasons an amplifier tries to protect itself.

Overheating - thermal shutdown.

Over Impedence - The subwoofers installed are not configured into a load the amplifier can handle.

Output is grounded - a positive wire strand may be touching the ground terminal - a wire may be shorted, or a speaker voicecoil is blown.

Intennal problem - Output on amplifier blown, or some other component has failed.

Check your wiring to the amplifier again - if all is good - disconnect the speakers and try to power on. If the amplifier turns on normally - test the speakers for blown coils.

If the amplifier still goes into protect mode - the problem is internal and needs professional repair.

Why does my amp stay in protect mode?

The most common reason an amplifier goes into or remains in protect mode is shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible reasons for it to go into protect, read the following page.

Try plugging in a pair of headphones. I tried it without the speakers connected and since it found the headphones and they were OK the system came out of protect mode.
