Baud Rate Setting is indicative of dial up access, ie telephone connection. Internet by wireless or DSCH conected cable is usually measured in Mega Bits per sec., which is baud rate of course, but is not settable on routers as the standard B,G,N is built into the routers.

If you are talking about using your Sylvania SYNET07526 on the internet, you have to connect it to a wireless network or a wired network as it does not have a telephone modem in it.

So lets assume you want to connect via wireless, and you have a working wireless network, then follow the directions below.

It is looking for a password (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computer icon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it. The red X indicates that it is NOT connected. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up, then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name of your WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. Then another window opens up called Network Properties. Uncheck "The key is provided automatically" box. This will allow you to type in your "Network Key", the password that protects your network from outsiders. This "KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your server computer. If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on it's back and using a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonally from the right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy of everything including the WiFi RT28701 driver.

sometimes this driver gets confused. See my TIP at: http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fix_synet07526_wifi_flashing

Additional Information

When I try to sign on with the red X showing, I get "The page cannot be displayed If I then double click on the icon down in the right corner I elucidated above, RT28701 opens up to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) with all zeros in the IP address field, and Subnet Mask, with no entries in the default gateway. That is a clue to me that the auto sign on has not found a viable network or needs something else. If I then click on Wireless Information tab, The list of available networks appear in the box. The machine keeps trying to associate my previous entered name site with my prefered site and tells me the signal is good, but it cannot link up. This is a signal to me that it has lost my Network Key or that the software has failed or both. I then click on advance and delete my prefered network and hit OK, this will force the software to ask me for my network again, and notice that the prefered is missing. I click on the name of my network again and then hit connect., then the Wireless Network properties window opens up and I can insert my Network Key again after I uncheck the "The key is provided automatically" box. I enter the key and hit the OK button. I still do not get a connection, so I reboot the machine, and wait for about 30 seconds and the machine synchs up because the little RED X under the icon has disappeared. Now the machine will hook to the internet as long as I want to, but sometimes when I turn the machine on it will not synch, so I go through the above sequence again. The secret is once you have entered your key and ask for the machine to synch up you have to reboot. Why? I do not exactly know, but I suspect that the WiFi driver looses it

How do you find the passwords? I just bought this computer today, and am having this exact problem with the baud rate, and I am not literate when it comes to fixing a problem like this!! HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!

Your password or "Network Key" is what you are using to protect your wireless network from just any body camping on. I suspect that you used the default password provided by your router manufacturer when you or someone set up your in home network.. Please try to follow the detail below.
    Try following the data below.

couple of ways. You can reset your router, then it will default to factory settings and then it will delete your password and open itself up to not needing a password to get on your network. However, anyone can connect to your network,so you will have to enter into your networks menus and reset a password to prevent this, then set that password on all of the computers on the network now. You generally access your set up menu by typing your server IP address into your browser address bar, which is usuallyhttp://192.168.1.1

This is not all conclusive as some routers have other access methods, but the majority use the above. It will also require a User and a password and the default is usually admin and password or password1 for the default. If however, you have set a password then you definitely have to reset.

Reset is usually a small button , some recessed in a small hole that requires a tooth pick or unbent paper clip to push into the hole and hold for 15 seconds with the power on the router. Sometimes turning the power off of the router for2-5 minutes will cause it to reset.

You can also force the laptop(or any client of that server) that you are using and is connected to the internet to give you the English translation of the password. Click on your WiFi icon down in the right corner, A window opens, right click on the name of your network that is connected, click on properties, click on "show characters." The network key(your password)will be revealed

    philislady:

I would advise you to return the netbook as it is not a very useful gadget. it will not work as a normal computer and is a source of frustration for the average computer user. You can get the WiFi to work but you are limited to receiving those restricted sites that ascribe to the smart phone network. it will not receive your E-mail satisfactorily and the applications that can be used by it is very limited.
It is a gadget for "nerds" to experiment with and certainly does not do any computer job well. You would be much better off using the refund toward a real netbook or a laptop that will work out of the box. Don't get me wrong, I like the challenge of making it work, but I see no useful job that it will do adequately. i have taking mine apart, and I have put other operating systems on it, but I still find no useful thing i can do with it. i use it as a learning tool.
The Win CE system was designed for use in smart phones and embedded computer switches in industry, not for a retail computer. It is more of a toy than a appliance.

Trying to get my sylvania 7 inch netbook to bring up the internet, but it keeps saying to verify the baud rate settings

I used a router and adjusted the same conf. for both the router and the net book. All you need to do is to match both. I also know that you need to activate the wi fi by pressing the fn f9 buttons at the sometime. Try to log on and if it says connected but you are not able to use the net go to internet options and type yahoo.com or goggle.com. If you still not able to connect shut down and log on again. It works. Hope this helps Mrs.Mo

How do I change baud rate on Lexmark X5650 in

Just to set your expectation, MagicJack phone service may work but Lexmark does not recommend the printer to be connected to a digital phone signal (e.g. MagicJack, Vonage, etc.) since there are lots of jitter and packet loss in the transmission signal resulting to fax failures. The Lexmark fax machine will have its optimum performance when connected to an analog signal(regular telephone line). But here's how to configure the printer's baud rate. From the Control Panel, press Settings(wrench icon)> Fax Setup, hit Ok > Dialing and Sending, hit Ok > Max Send Speed, hit Ok > set down the speed to 9600 bps. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

I have cisco 1841 router stuck at Rommon> only IOS is ok,but still in this mode/.

what shows the following?

dir flash: If IOS is ok the follow the below step The router will guide you through changing the registry. You want to press y to chang the configuration. The only other change you need to make is the change to the console baud rate, set that to 7 (115200).

do you wish to change the configuration? y/n [n]: y
enable "diagnostic mode"? y/n [n]:
enable "use net in IP bcast address"? y/n [n]:
enable "load rom after netboot fails"? y/n [n]:
enable "use all zero broadcast"? y/n [n]:
disable "break/abort has effect"? y/n [n]:
enable "ignore system config info"? y/n [n]:
change console baud rate? y/n [n]: y

4 = 19200, 5 = 38400, 6 = 57600, 7 = 115200 [0]: 7
change the boot characteristics? y/n [n]:

break/abort has effect
console baud: 115200

do you wish to change the configuration? y/n [n]:
You must reset or power cycle for new config to take effect.

3. When you reset the router in your console window you will see characters that you cannot read. You have to stop the session and set your baud rate to 115200. This will let you increase the speed that you use to transfer the file.
4. At the rommon prompt enter xmodem -c {filename}
5. When prompted, enter y to continue
6. From your hyperterminal prompt, click on transfter then send file
7. Select the IOS image then change the protocol to xmodem via the dropdown box then click send.
8. After the IOS has been downloaded, change the boot order by using the confreg 0x2102 command.

The computer knows that my printer is turned on and it knows when the printer cover is open and shut but when i click print it doesnt do a damn thing....i checked if microsoft word had my printer set to...

you will need to check the below check points.
1. check the printer is not out of papers and toner.
2. If the printer is a serial printer, make sure that the baud rate at which the computer sends data to the printer matches the printer's baud rate. For instructions on how to reset the baud rate, see ``Printer output is illegible''.
3. Make sure that the printer is enabled and accepting jobs. See ``Enabling and disabling printers'' and ``Accepting or rejecting print jobs'' (from Printer's manual).
4. Verify that the system has the port configured properly. See ``Port does not respond'' for more information.
5. Make sure that the port is configured for the proper interrupt vector and that no other hardware is using that interrupt vector. See ``Interrupt vectors'' for more information. See your hardware documentation for information on configuring your ports.
6. Goto command prompt.and tye below mentioned.
>/dev/tty1a< /dev/tty01
and then set the date.
7. If the output prints, try submitting a sample file for printing:
Thats all.
