This indicates that your computer cannot find an operating system (most likely Mac OS X) to boot. Hold down the "option" key when you turn your Mac on next time. This will bring you into a mode listing all of the boot options available. Once in, if there is an option for Mac OS X, select it.

Sharing Your Own Computer's Stuff with the Network

To share a file or folder with your fellow computer users, move the file into your Shared Documents folder, which lives in your My Computer window. (You must move or copy a file into the Shared Documents folder; shortcuts don't always work.)

After you place your file or folder into your Shared Documents folder, it appears in the Shared Documents folder of everybody else using your computer.

Administrators can share folders without having to move them into the Shared Documents folder. The trick is to follow these steps:

1. Right-click on a folder you'd like to share and choose Sharing and Security from the pop-up menu.

Open My Computer and right-click on the folder you'd like to share. When the menu appears, select Sharing and Security. A window appears, showing the Properties for that folder. It opens to the Sharing tab.

Right-click on a folder and choose Sharing and Security to share the folder on the network.

2. Click the box marked Share This Folder on the Network.

A check mark in that box lets everybody peek at, grab, steal, change, or delete any of the files in that folder. To let visitors look inside the files but not change them, remove the check mark from the box marked Allow Network Users to Change My Files.

3. Click OK.

Now that particular folder and all its contents are available for everybody on the network to share.

Sharing a lot of folders isn't a good idea because it gives network visitors too much control over your computer. Even if you trust people, they might accidentally mess something up. To be safe, only share files by placing them in the Shared Document folder.

Inside Shared Documents live two more folders, Shared Music and Shared Pictures. Those two folders are also available to any user. So, if you want to share documents with any user of your computer, store them in the Shared Documents folder. When you make MP3s from your CDs, store them in the Shared Music folder, too, so that everybody can enjoy them.

How to use my sms card

If you camera came with a cable that has a flat end (USB PORT) you can plug it into the computer and turn the camera on. The computer will recognize it and give you options to open the files on it. You can look through the camera files just like you would look through any disk files or usb flash drive files.

Once you find your camera pictures, I would suggest opening the MY Pictures folder on your computer. If you want all the camera pictures within one folder within the My Pictures folder, then first create a New Folder and give it a name. If you don't care and just want them spreaded all within the My Pictures folder then you don't need to create a folder within the My Pictures folder. You can drag and drop the pictures from the camera you want to the My Pictures or New Folder you created, or you can click Edit at the top of the camera window and select copy then go to the My Pictures or New Folder you created and click Edit at the top of it's window and select Paste.

If you want all the pictures from the camera, then you can select Edit at the top of the camera window and then SELECT ALL, then Edit followed by Copy, then go to the MY Pictures or the New Folder and click Edit then Paste.

I have just purchsed a 4gb usb2 flash drive . I am wanting to copy some pictures from my desktop and put them on my new laptop . Can anyone tell me how to do this in simple language as i do not understand...

Hi. All you have to do is:

- Insert your new USB flashdrive in an empty USB slot in your desktop computer.

- A new window will appear and will ask you what you want to do with that device... Choose "Open folder to view files".

- Then just leave it there and go to the file(s) you want to copy, right click on i and click "copy"

- Go back to your USB folder, right click on an empty space on that folder and click "paste". That will copy the files into your USB flashdrive.

- Remove the USB flashdrive from your desktop.

- Insert it into your laptop's empty USB slot.

- A new window will appear and will ask you what you want to do with that device... Choose "Open folder to view files".

- Highlight all the files you want to copy from USB flashdrive folder, right click and click "cut".

- Go to your laptops folder where you want to copy the files, right click on an empty space and click "paste".

I want to download pictures from my computer to a flash drive.

Open [My Computer]
You will see the flash drive, probably "Removeable Disk" and probably labeled Drive E

Click on the flash drive icon and the main folder on the flash drive will appear.
Create a folder (right-click, [New] [Folder]) and name it something like "photos"

Find the pictures on your computer and copy (drag & drop) them onto the folder on the flash drive.
No, you don't have to make a folder on the flash drive, just a suggestion.

Help

Hello, The blinking file folder with the question mark can happen when the computer doesn't "see" your System. It can be caused by a faulty hard drive, or by a damaged operating system. You can try to reboot the Mac, and hold the "C" key with your installation disc in. Select english, the go to the tools menu, and Disk Utility. Go to the SOS tab, select your drive and click "repair". If something red appears, it means that it has found something wrong on your hard drive. Best regards

File/Folder Permission Message in Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus

Hello welcome to FIxya!

Here you can check this procedure on how to open your files again.

"1) Check your Recycle Bin
2) Do a Folder/File Search for each of the Grey Folder Project names. This will display all Folders & Files with that Project Name. You are looking for an .stx File. If it's there, right-Click on Project Name / Open Containing Folder & Copy it to your My Projects Folder. Then you should have both the Grey Folder & .stx File for the same Project name, showing in your My Projects Folder.
If the Search doesn't display a .stx File, you can create a new one, by Opening a New empty Project, which will create a My Movie Grey Folder & a My Movie .stx File, Save to your My Projects Folder. Delete the My Movie Grey Folder & Rename the My Movie .stx File to the same name as your original Grey Folder."
So ...after finding my "lost" movie file, with its file name, under Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects i then went through the following procedures using your great advice Colour;
  1. Make a copy of your found "lost" movie grey film icon file by right mouse clicking on your lost file and choosing "copy". Paste the copy into another folder in Documents where you can find it if need be
  2. Then go back to Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects and right mouse click onto your grey film icon. Choose "rename". Then rename your "lost" grey film icon to a new file name but do not put .stc at the end of the file name, if you are operating VISTA and Pinnacle 12. This is important because Pinnacle 12 won't recognise the file later if you have .stc in the file name
  3. Open Pinnacle and go to the File Menu
  4. Click on New Project
  5. Open File Menu again and click on Save File as
  6. Give the file a name such as "Movie 7" and save it
  7. Close out of Pinnacle
  8. Open up Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects and observe that you now have 2 new files there ...a grey film icon file saying Movie 7 AND a coloured Pinnacle icon file saying Movie 7
  9. Delete the grey icon file with the file name Movie 7
  10. Now give your coloured Pinnacle icon file the exact same rename as your precious "lost" renamed grey movie icon file, using the right mouse click on rename proceedure as explained in No.2 above.
  11. Close out of Documents file
  12. Now open up Pinnacle again
  13. Go to Menu and choose Open Project
  14. There you will see the coloured Pinnacle icon file with the new name of your "lost" movie file.
  15. Click onto its coloured Pinnacle icon, and watch your "lost" movie come into view again
