pick up the power wire to the ignition switch and piggy back it from there through the gauge to earth or if you do not like that idea run 2 wires from the battery terminals directly to the gauge. Positive wire to be fused at the battery

Customer has lost his power supply cord. where can he purchase another cord. power cord is three prongs.

  • Hi, I can help.

  • For the Radio Shack TRC-447 this is just a standard 3 PIN DC cord. Many CB's use the same cord and they are interchangeable. Some Cobra, Uniden, Radio Shack use the same cord. Texxcomm is a great place to get parts from.

I HAVE MY RV AC PLUGGED DIRECTLY IN A110 LONG EXTENSION CORD.....COMPRESSOR RUNS COLD 20 SECONDS THEN FAN ONLY 20 SECONDS THE COMPRESSOR BACK ON 20 SECONDS THIS REPEATS IT SELF OVER AND OVER IS THIS A...

Susan, I really couldn't tell how long the extension cord you're using is or the gauge wire of the cord. I suspect it was a type-O. In any event, for an A/C unit the gauge wire of the extension cord should be no smaller than a 12 gauge and should have a grounding plug. The length shouldn't be more 10 to 12' . Any longer and you may have some voltage loss, when the compressor kicks in (surges) to start cooling.

Hope this helped to answer your question.

My power acoustic per-007 is demanding more voltage than normal to operate. If I probe the power source to it with the connector unplugged I have battery voltage. Once I plug it in the voltage drops to 8...

Sounds like you need to run a heavier Gauge wire for power source. If power source wire is too small, you will get a voltage drop. Check your source wire gauge compared to connector on equalizer. You may end up having to run a heavier gauge direct to battery, with fuse link in line. See what the amp requirements are in manual, and make sure wire is heavier than minimal. Example: if 15 amp required, I'd go to 12 gauge minimum, or to be safe 10 gauge. (longer the run, heavier the wire.) Be sure all connections are good as well.

Don't know if my amps wired right it has 2 power inputs and 2 ground inputs do I bridge them or run seperate wires?

If I am not mistaken one power input goes directly to the pos + side of your battery (Use minimum 10 gauge stranded copper wire for this) and the other goes to the stereos (usually blue wire and can be regular 16/18 gauge wire) that is either used for (an amp or power antenna) In your case, an amp. So when you turn on/off your stereo your amp will also turn on/off . For the 2 ground wires just make sure you run at least one of them (preferebly with 10 gauge stranded copper wire directly to the neg - side of the battery and the other one can be ran to chassis ground and may be 16/18 gauge wire. Good Luck.

The power cord over heats and burns through the direct wire strain relief.

it will only over heat if the cable is of insufficient ampage. too much electrical current running thru a too-thin gauge cable causes friction which generates heat. use a thicker gauge cable. pref 32 or 45 amp depending on hob type.

I have a Kenmore Diswasher model. 587.15103801 - My question is - can I wire a 3 prong power cord to it? If so, what do I need to purchase? Thanks

The dishwasher SHOULD have a three prong cord, or be hardwired using using a 3 conductor electrical wire capable of handing 15 to 20 amps (12 or 10 gauge wire). If you desire to use a cord with a plug on the end, you can purchase a power tool replacment cord rated at 15 amps or higher from the hardware store (I have found power tool replacement cords to be very durable). Make sure you purchase one that is long enough the accomodate pulling the dishwasher out from under the counter, if required. The power cord is installed in a junction box behind the lower toe panel that's located directly below the door. The wire color coding is as follows:

BLACK - HOT (120 VAC)
WHITE - NEUTRAL (0 VAC)
GREEN - GROUND

Match the color wires with the wires inside the dishwasher junction box and twist together using wire lugs. Attach the ground wire to the appropriate ground lug.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
