Hi Dominique,

Try removing the battery, then plug in the power cord and press the power button. If it works, attach the battery while it's powered on, and you should be good to go. If not, contact Dell for warranty service if it's less than 1 year old. If it's out of warranty, get someone to test the adapter with a voltage meter to ensure it is actually supplying power to the laptop or go to a store that sells universal laptop power adapters and test it with one (with the battery removed). If still no good, the laptop may be dead. Let me know what happens and I may be able to help further.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Joe

I have a Dell E6400. I know, ancient! Is it normal that it gets slower when charging? Like when it's using battery power, it's noticeably faster, but when I plug the charger in it just gets slower..

1.Install the system again. If it works, over!
2.remove the battery, and turn on your notebook with charger. If it works, there may be
something wrong with your battery. You can change a new battery.
3.Install the battery, and plug the charger, power your notebook. Open the Power
management, change the Power plan to High performance.

Dell latitude runs but does not boot up

Remove battery + power cord from AC adapter. Wait 10 minutes. Plug in only the power cord. Power-on the laptop.

If laptop starts correctly, plug in battery while it is up using the adapter. Leave on for battery to recharge.

Dell latitude d600 doesn't turn on

The test Dell advises to narrow down this issue is to remove the battery, hard drive, ram, and optical drive.  Next plug in the a/c power cord and you should get some LED's coming on. If not it points to the motherboard.
